Windsor v Wembley

Well done Wembley - quick, neat footballing team, good to watch at times.

Windsor only really turned up (again) for the last 20 minutes when we battered Wembley but we seem to have gone shot shy in the last 2 or 3 games. We look like we want to bundle it over the line.

Not being rude / provocative etc. but I'd like to ask a question about Wembley's 'keeper last night...

Big unit and he did well on the night, but he just did not look like a proper 'keeper to me. He flapped / patted at crosses, palmed everything away on the dive unless it was right into his midriff and in his pre-match warm up looked all at sea with anything low down, and his handling was suspect as well. The coach was showing him the "W" shape of fingers and thumbs when catching the ball above waste height....

So, no offence, he seemed like a decent guy and he certainly kept us lot out, but is he actually an established 'keeper?

He's been one of the best keepers that has played in this league for years.....& by all account still is

OH MY GOD light blue touch paper and stand back. once he has not got a fare in the back, this should be interesting.

I've not heard any Windsor fans grumbling about Bullivant, if they have, that's their prerogative of course.

Anyway, back to Ini Amaegbe - is it just that he doesn't actually try to catch the ball on the dive or from crosses, but would rather palm it away to safety, and that it is a style that has always worked for him...?

I'm not knocking him - it worked and fair play - he just looked very unconventional to me and what I saw suggested he wasn't an experienced 'keeper.

Agree with Postie, one of if not the best keeper in this league in recent seasons. Only others I have seen of similar standard were Borg at Epsom and Gray at Camberley.

Well, I am actually amazed, but if you say so (and have obviously seen a lot more of him than I have) then I shall accept that.

Coolio.

If this is who played then he isn't the guy everyone else is talking about (they are on about our very own Pearcy No1).

As a GK I have to agree that Pearcy (despite appearances) is one of the best keepers I've known in my time in the CCL!

Worked with Pearcey a few years ago and he was one of the reasons that the old Bedfont Green won the league. Cracking keeper, cracking bloke with all the banter. A bit on the chubby side but has been 4 a few years but would be on all of the CCL Prems wish list if he became available but I know he is building with Batsey at Wembley ....

...and you can add Batesy as a goodfella and Wembley could go well next season.

I'm fairly sure it was Pearcey who played for Bedfont Green when they ground-shared at Stag Meadow, if so quite a few of our supporters can vouch for his credentials as he normally managed to get something in the way to prevent a goal being scored.

He obviously doesn't know much about shape though [Team that is, not a personal dig. LOL] as we played 3 at the back last night but for the life of me I couldn't figure the rest of the formation out ! It looked to me like 3-2-4-1 as Ben and Laz were in no-mans' land caught between defence and midfield all night leaving space down the flanks for Wembley to run in to. Phelan won his fair share of knock-ons but unfortunately Chens and O'Toole were playing far too wide to run on to them and nobody could string a decent pass together which was most unlike us but in reality it was because Wembley did a job on us and worked hard to shut us down quickly.

On the night they were by far the best I've seen this season so well done to them and we just have to start again on Saturday !

I still say there are more games to be lost by the top sides during the run in and whoever loses 5 or less will be the champs at the end - so no pressure on us then !

Is he still a grumpy snidey piece of work Pearcey ?

Wembley always have a decent side but always seem to struggle. the problem is when you meet them on a good day !!

Batesy loves a chat up with the match officials :)
