Great highlights, but should there man have got a straight red? (at 2mins 40sec) I think young Neil would have been landing near The Cold End if the Heybridge man made full contact with his tackle.

 

Should the keeper have been given a second yellow for holding onto the ball from a dliberate back pass??

 

We should have had a second penalty for a second half handball. So we'll moan about decisions when we win too, can't be bad.

 

Despite that I thought the ref was one of the better one's we've had this season.

Holding on to the ball. He did hold the ball but he had picked it up from a back pass I dont think I would have dropped it immediately on the whistle. Ossei seemed to go in too quick to recover the ball - if there had been another Town player near him ready to take advantage of a quick free kick I may have thought differently however there wasn't so Ossei's reaction was a little too aggressive imv. If Willis had got a second yellow then Ossei should have joined him in the book.

 

The defenders tackle deserve a yellow, perhaps, however he clearly went for the ball in a determine side tackle. There was no malice there imv and he did not go for Neil. In my day it would not have even been blown up for a foul!

 

The second hand ball was a penalty but the lino on my side would not have seen it and perhaps the ref gave them the benefit of the doubt he had done that for us in a penalty request a few seconds earlier when Allen took out one of their players.

No keeper in that situation will give the ball up easily and would be crucified by his team, manager and supporters if he did except Fabianski!!!

As CD Towner stated Hope was going rationally mad for Leon to get the ball and give him a tap in. The fact the goalie was already on a yellow (bringing down Wallce for the Pen) Swayed the ref not to give a second yellow, which probably saved Leon from a yellow too.

 

The 'defenders tackle' is now deemed as unneccessary force, in my view it was a straight red. We should'nt have to wait for him to have an opponent carried off before he learns to tacle properly and within the Laws. I appreciate that Ron Harris/Tommy Smith and Co would argue differently. Could you imagine what sort of game it would be if every tackle was like this one?

 

At least we agreed Heybridge got off with another Pen for Handball and Lee Allen was lucky not to be carded.

 

Roll On 7.45 v Chatham, I love mid week games.
