Slough v Hayes

Slough Match Sec

Looking at it, with these suspensions for the St Neots I'd go in:

Warrington

Brown NBH Woozley

Sinclair/Burgess Logie Swift Murphy

Herron (free role to give us creativity in Coyne's absence)

Owusu Sonner

We may not get a lot of the ball so Sonner instead of Burnell for me, also am I the only person that can't work out why Perkins gets in the team ahead of Logie?

Saying that, where was the Wooz today?

Subs and time wasting I would assume.

Not sure Sincs got the card at the end, awaiting confirmation but I think it was Ben Abbey who received it.

I didn't see it, so might be wrong person, but someone said in the clubhouse that Sincs got a red card for throwing the ball at the Ref.

For Sincs or Abbey to receive a red card then all I can say is the officials must have been as bad if not worse than when we played AFC Hayes at their place! Neither player says boo to a goose so to receive a red card for dissent is totally out of character!

Herron? After today he should be lucky to get a place in the side full stop.

Good first half but abysmal second.

I genuinely think Herron only has 45 minutes in

him these days... On his day, arguably one of the most talented individuals in this league but he just doesn't do it often enough! May be in a central free role he could do more damage, when stuck out wide he has to defend and I just think he runs out of puff!

Tend to agree. Ability wise no question. So begs the question why he wasn't subbed in the second half for Logie or Burgess?

Bit lightweight and another non-tackler to put in a midfield role.

Frustrating game all round .. The important thing was we created several good chances and while we are doing that and get a rub of the green ..we might score a few on the way !..unlike AFC Hayes today who huffed and puffed and never look like scoring ...or put james under any pressure in the first 94 mins ! Unfortunatley they were the team Time wasting and were rewarded for this with the penalty in time added on by them !

Very very frustrating game, made even more frustrating by this red card to Sincs. Hayes never looked like scoring (again), and then got that penalty at the end, but we should not have given them the opportunity. We just needed to hold onto the ball and not dive in. We had defended so well up to that point and it is so disappointing to see it happen again. It's like a recurring nightmare of AFC Hayes and late penalties after having the lead.

I don't understand why Ollie Burgess didn't get an opportunity to play today in the midfield now that Martin has gone. Anderson looked useful when he came on, and it was excellent to see Lloyd back, and he could have grabbed a goal if he had a bit more luck.

We must move on past these frustrations, at least St Neots did not win, and look to get a result next week.

Being an avid fan of Steve Perkins and Adam Logie, I often wonder why they both don't start in a game ! Thought Steve Perkins was good today and he was the one who directed his header towards goal in the final minutes for Ben Abbey to equalise. So was worth his place, on that instance alone but given his age and playing in a two man centre midfield with Paul Coyne, thought it asked a lot of both men, to keep up the pace for 90 minutes, especially when we've been used to playing three centre midfielders for a while now.

The pitch was abysmal for all to see. Lloyd must have wondered what he was doing turning up at Holloway's Park.Thought he looked rusty but his sheer presence and ability to turn a defender gave us a different dimension. He should have scored one of his three chances, though. On a better pitch he will.

Paul Coyne and Steve Perkins had their work cut out in midfield because of the treacherous conditions and gave it their all but both were fortunate not to get a red card each for mistimed tackles. Why we played Paul Coyne today ,anyway, is plain daft. He's now picked up a yellow and is therefore out for our most important match against St Neots.

It was always going to happen and now we have to get a new midfield combination ready for our biggest game of the season, with only one game to experiment.Don't like to say, told you so.

Thought Danny Burnell worked his socks off and was a credit to the team. Jerome Anderson looked very good, too, and on another day, both will be a handful for opposition defenders.Just didn't fall for them today.

Amazed Ollie Burgess didn't come on for Chris Herron in the 2nd half, Herron looked out on his feet and it just wasn't happening for him. Alex Brown is worth a mention for some great well timed tackles, too.

At the end of the day we didn't lose ! Got out of jail with St Neots drawing,as well, but definitely two points dropped in my mind.We must kill off sides and win games, sooner rather than later ,if we are going to be champions.

Paul Coyne WILL NOT miss the st neots game but he will miss the games against Northwood and Barton

Am I the only supporter that is baffled by the fact that when Simon Sweeney plays we revert to a 4-4-2 despite playing 3-5-2 nearly all season, even more weird giving the fact that we didn't have a recognised left back available yesterday! With Woozley out, Sweeney could have slotted into his position on the left of the back 3 which would have freed up Swift to go in the middle with Coyne and Perkins, I don't understand why the introduction of one player forces a complete change in shape and formation! I do like Perkins but just feel that playing him in midfield in a pair isn't the way to get the best out of him, he should be the anchor in a central midfield 3!

Good news that Coyne is available for the St Neots game but is Sinclair unavailable? For a straight red is that 3 games starting with Northwood?

Actually thought 4-4-2 worked very well. Swifty had a solid game at left back and if Murphy is close to a return I would leave Swifty at full back and play Murphy in front of him in place of Herron. The real advantage was on the right hand side, Sinclair was able to play in a much more advanced role and try to hurt the opposition knowing he had the cover and support of Sweeney who was overlapping on a regular basis. I've been concerned about a lack of creativity recently and an over reliance on Paul Coyne to make things happen but Saturday we regularly got into decent crossing position but the final ball was lacking.

I still think Chris Herron is a useful squad player to have around. The AFC Hayes game was difficult for anyone trying to run the ball, given the pitch condition. The trouble with Chris seems to be his inconsistency. He played well against Chertsey,as did Ollie Burgess, but then we had the two week break,so this wouldn't have helped.

Chris Herron's problem is that he doesn't get enough game time to get fit, and because he seems frightened to get injured,he tackles very little. Wingers shouldn't be expected to be hard nuts in the tackle but they must,at least, make it hard for the opposition to get past them.

Against Hayes,Chris went missing defensively and also was poor in his offensive play but on a superior pitch I know he would play a better game. Steve Sinclair had Simon Sweeney behind him, whereas Chris Herron only had Stuart Swift for cover. It's obvious what player would look better having a natural full back/defender behind them. With Danny Murphy back soon, any left winger will have the opportunity to play better.

Pleased to hear that Paul Coyne's yellow won't affect him playing St Neots.Someone on here gave me a bum steer about that!

I think the problem for Steve Bateman,CR, is who do you drop, now that Simon Sweeney is fit. I would have thought Alex Brown's place would be the one in jeopardy but currently he's playing well and is a great character to have in the team. With the squad we have 3-5-2 works well for accommodating players and with the added bonus of the extra man in midfield .Against one of the lower sides,we could also try playing a 3-4-3 with Murphy and Sweeney or Sinclair in the wing roles.

4-4-2 is the way of playing your best players in their best positions.

Still, with the bookings and suspensions we get [sarcasm, lol !],so far everyone's had a chance to play.
