Slough v Hayes

Slough Match Sec

Recommended Posts

told you playoffs our best hope.we always struggle against lower sides-which isn't championship winning form. 1 nil up with time running out and we give away a penalty-says it all really.

Oh give the guys a break, it's their first game in 3 weeks, was played on a terrible pitch and in poor conditions!

St Neots didn't win either so nothing lost nothing gained... 13 games to play and still all to play for!

COME ON YOU REBELS!

So based on this logic it's Slough and St Neots in the play offs if today is anything to go by

the players looked very annoyed about the pen decision but dunno if it was just the horror of history repeating itself in that we battled our way to a lead and lose it late to a pen.

gutted not to win but Hayes have got the best away record in the league having lost just 1 game out of 15 away this season

how costly will the late goal denying us be though especially as we could have moved further clear of St Neots

still reason to be optimistic and shows St Neots are not so unbeatable as people seemed to be suggesting after their 8 or 9 whatever win few weeks back

We were basically robbed. I was too far away to see whether the penalty was justified. But they are a team that turn up and time waste from the start, dive and are prepared to sit in and defend. Warro did not have a save to make and their only shot on target was the pen.

We were a bit wasteful in the final third with our final ball but felt the goal from abbey was just desserts.

Lots of positives today. Lloyd looked class. Excellent first touch and will give us a lot. Jerome looked lively with a good turn of pace. St newts are vulnerable at the back and there are lots of twists and turns to come.

according to james warrington the player who went down was not touched, though i must say from my posistion it certainly looked like a penalty, though with officials like they are at this level you can never be sure what they are or are not going to give and todays ref gives me no reason to think about changing that opinion.

What was disappointing was that once we got that late goal we allowed ourselves to get penned back in our own half. I'd have liked to see us get on the front foot and go at them again. Pleased for Ben Abbey that he got the goal and agree with Martin, Lloyd looked class. His first touch was exceptional.

Did we miss Adam Martin and Chris Seeby today?

From thinking we need a forward (now we are well stacked!), I think we need another central midfielder!!!

I think what we missed was our midfielders being able to tackle thanks to an over-zealous referee. Coyne was unable to make a tackle after getting booked in the first half and Perkins followed suit as well. That didn't help for sure.

They cheat again! It looked like a pen! But their keepers behaviour was appalling and yet again we got lots booked for similar challenges to them when they were unpunished!!

This sounds like a carbon copy of their game at St Neots earlier in the season where they wasted so much time they ended up getting the winner with their only shot on goal in the 90 something min,

I am sure it was also their keeper that feigned injury and then smiled at the St Neots fans as then ref gave decision after decision in his favour,

yep seems likely at least once their keeper was grinning away after being given a free kick for no reason. keeper also disgracefully tried to trick ref into punishing our defender before we took our corner 1st half just chucked himself on the floor with no contact. ref luckily didnt buy it at all but how on earth he didnt get booked for outright cheating i have no clue

hard to see how Hayes have done so so well away from home as it dont seem likely that these tactics would work so often for so long. fair play i suppose its got them a load of points

I think we could all say a lot about certain aspects of our performance today but we didn't lose and St Neots dropped points as well so lets all stay positive.

What I will say though is that I'm gutted that Paul Coyne picked up a needless booking and Steve Sinclair an even more ridiculous red card and both will probably miss the St Neots game.

Also, I feel sorry for Ollie Burgess and Adam Logie because I can't see any good reason why we didn't make 3 substitutions.
