Town 2 Hendon 1

The efforts of the groundstaff and volunteers were rewarded with a fine win over one of our close rivals.

On a heavy pitch, Town made most of the running but Hendon defended well against a succession of first half corners. The second half continued in the same vein until Harrison Chatting headed in a fine right wing cross at the far post (69m) Ten minutes later he grabbed a second with a low shot after a fine lay off by Courtney White.

Town were coasting until former league player Isiah Rankin scored, having challenged Dale Brightly as he was collecting the ball on the edge of his area. Town appealed for a foul but the ref decided otherwise. With the game well into added time, Town tried to run the clock down but were thwarted as the ref mysteriously kept the game going until almost 9.50 pm. During this time, an otherwise good natured game became tetchy and resulted in a melee in front of the home dugout.

Town deserved this hard fought victory and it was a good reward for the 300 plus crowd who braved the elements.

Great result lads! Couldn't make the game but was regularly updated by Steed_Jnr. A really well deserved victory for the players and the snow patrol volunteers, who spent a long cold Sunday making sure the pitch was playable - a superb effort from the club as a whole, exactly what local football is about IMHO

All the way to the finish Blues!

Cheers fella, was a hard fought game at a very fast pace but a fully deserved win it did actually mirror the away game at Hendon earlier in the season going 1 then 2 up and in cruise control till Hendon score a late goal and we end up hanging on for dear life.

Thought both team put in a good effort on a tricky pitch and was an entertaining match.

3 massive points last night so well done fella's.

Good luck to Hendon for the rest of the season.

What can we say apart from (A) Without the hard work of all those who helped get the game on for the rest of us to watch was remarkable ! - (B) The team rewarded those folk (and us) with a performance and 3 precious points .

So many positives from last night - Every single player who was on the pitch at any point last night produced a huge work ethic in very difficult conditions , and showed a true togetherness . H score a goal with his head ! Whats that all about ehh !! Second goal was a gem too . They all ran their cows testicles off !!! Superb lads .

Now then.....Canvey Saturday is gonna be a tough game and one that fans of both sides always look out for . Just 15 mles down the road....Big fan turnout (well i can come too) so that's one extra :P - Seriously folks , can we take loads ??? I think we can...

Well done to Craig and mangement - Keep pumping the boys up !

What a fantastic effort by the "groundstaff" and the supporters who helped in making the pitch playable. I was staggered when I saw the mounds of snow piled up around the sides. As the chairman said, it really was a "Herculean" effort. A massive well done to everyone who contributed in giving us sloths a game to watch.

On the subject of massive efforts, well done to the team for another crucial three points against good opposition. I felt Hendon started brightly for the first 10/15 minutes but after that we imposed ourselves and were pretty much on top for the rest of the game bar the twitchy bit at the end.

Hard to single individuals out as everyone put a shift in and really that has been the cornerstone of our success so far this season. I thought maybe we could have made a couple of changes five or ten minutes earlier as some of the lads looked out on their feet, but we managed to close the game out in the end.

The melee at the end was a shame as it hadn't been a dirty game at all and yet there ended up being loads of bookings. Six points off Hendon is a tally that not many teams will be able to boast at the end of the season.

Canvey Saturday should be fun. As I recall they really struggled with our set pieces first time out - Hopefully the same will happen this time.

Well done lads! Come on you Blues!!

A 'propa' gutsy performance from all and despite the pitch we played some good stuff at times. 'H' will get the plaudits (and rightly so) but Collis and Poole had good games whilst Courtney impressed again. Now for the marsh rats....

13 games from glory. Keep it going.

T'was a proper football game in every sense, Both teams were well up for it as was the Ref it would seem.

I was impressed that Collis kept going to the same area of the pitch that he helped clear the snow from,

A shame about the silly yellow cards for the handbags incident towards the end but i suppose passion just got the better of both teams towards the end.

Anyone know how many attended the game?

Hang on to your Wellies lad's the cesspit awaits us on Saturday

Cracking game and the right result. I thought H had his best game in a Blue shirt, just cause problems all night, Collis was immense thoughout and Courtney was just a right royal pain in the backside for their defence.

After all the hardwork that so many put in to clearing the pitch I feared a bad performance but full credit to the management for firing up the boys cause everyone put in one major shift.

Special mention to Collis who worked his socks off on Monday night even after clearing snow from the pitch all day Sunday.

Onwards to the island and a few beverages along the way!

Well done boys, lets just keep it up.
