A Plan to save Non League Football

ellers

DFC played on a 3G last Saturday. Generally OK as far as the players were concerned. HOWEVER.....

The after-effects appeared Sunday and Monday, with ricks to ankle joints and knees.

Clearly, the 'give' in a 3G isn't nearly as much as a natural surface.

Incidently, the cost of laying the pitch we played on, talking to ground staff, was £100,000, with estimates on upkeep over ten years at a further £500,000.

A tad out of reach of all CCL clubs, I fancy !

But wouldn't the £50k pa upkeep costs be covered by the money brought in from hiring out?

Average cost is £90 per hour, so requires over 600 hours per annum, 50 hours a month or 11 hours per week consistently before you even make a profit. May work in some areas.

The upfront funding isn't the major problem,as the likes of powerleague etc are very keen to invest in 3G pitches. However they expect discounted hire for a number of years for this investment. If you can obtain funding from elsewhere, this is definitely beneficial in the long term.

The costs we have been quoted are around 250k to build and 25k per year to maintain (including sinking fund).

FFS NG, haven't you ever said anything positive? There are grants etc available to upgrade and create new facilities. My old Cricket Club got a bucket load for a new club house a few years back.

Windsor Proggy its not a case of being negative or positive, its FACT just like Windsors +£1800.00 a week budget !

Which CCL club can afford this, unless CCL and any non-league club gets some form of grant which takes how long Daniel, NLN >...... and thats not guaranteed...........Live in the real world Windsor or we'll all end up like your old Windsor club............lol !!!

Have you ever been involved in applying for funding NG? Not sure if you wanted an answer,or you were making a sweeping statement?

Its just a comment Daniel on how long, many man hours these things take and then there is no guarantee that loans, grants are given.

Perhaps if we all played on 3/4 G we would actually bring players up who can play football rather than hoof ball that they have to play on the facilities currently on offer around the country

I know at least one club that has been knocked back by a short sighted council and a bunch of NIMBYS that the council were scared off in case they lost their little old seats.

And yes that includes at least one present CCL chariman.

now now Deputy Dawg you wouldn't want to upset the local council its them you might need for some funding when we are in the Hellenic league

A clueless loser like NG wouldn't know where to start.

The funding is available. However I agree the time/effort involved in obtaining it is substantial

Maybe you should tell VP he seems to think these pitches are out of our reach according to him they are to expensive, interestingly on the Late Kick off TV show on monday it appears that a lot of proffesionalls are in favour of these pitches but they want it trialled in non league first,I think it is just around the corner certainly within the next 10 to 20 years

Too late for that Baldy. will leave them to show their support to all the other sporting establishments in the borough. Oh no they dont help them either. I could get very very poitical here but will pass on that for the minute

I agree with you re them coming in. I personally think it is going to happen. Lcak of training facilities for youth sides. So need more 3g pitches. No space so the obvious in this area is to turn some grass pitches into 3G's

There is a severe lack of facillities at present. With all the recent bad weather we have been looking to train elsewhere and the chances of hiring a midweek 3g area is non exsistent. Even most astro turfs are booked up along with indoor halls
