As not much happening on the pitch and so the forum is quiet, thought it would be an ideal time to pick your own Slough fantasy dream team made up of your best or your favourite players.

Here's mine;-

A 4-4-2 of

GK - Paul Wilkerson

Right back-Dean Palmer, Centre half- Mark Foran,Centre half- Gary McGinnis,Left Back-Allan Pluckrose.

Right wing- Mo Shariff, holding midfield- Danny Bailey, box to box midfielder-Ian Hazel, Left wing-Mark Fiore.

Centre Forward- Steve Thompson, centre forward- Cliff Hercules.

Subs,Trevor Bunting[GK], Mark Hill[left back/ centre half],Simon Sweeney[right back/centre half], Alex Haddow[left back/wing back], Gary Abbot[Centre forward].

Anyone else care to put their team up?

I think I would go with something like:

Bunting in goal, Josias Carbon as right wing back, Alex Haddow as left wing back, sweeper Gary McGinnis, centre halves Terry Angus and NBH, holding midfielder Wilko, in central midfield Steve Thompson and Ian Hazel and up front Gary Abbott and Mark West.

Subs: Wilkerson, Hardyman, Cliff Hercules, Gary Brazil and Owusu.

As Dave Anderson put his Non-League dream team together[players he's played with, seen and managed over his footballing career]in the Non-League Paper, the other week.I wondered if I could entice Steve Bateman to do his on here, unless of course,he's saving it for the newspaper!

He may be interested to know that when I was working out my Slough Town fantasy dream team,he appeared in my third team selection alongside Darren Anderson and Nathan Bowden Haase!

Any chance,Steve?!

I have seen so many players that it's too difficult for me to nominate a "best" XI. But here's a quick attempt at a very personal and I hope half-decent, "favourites" team (still too many from whom to choose).

Paul Barron

Tim Turl, Eric Young, John Delaney, John Ford

Terry Reardon, Ian Reid, Bobby Hatt, Geoff Anthony

Roger Connell, David Kemp

Subs: Alan Binfield, Bernie Gogan, Mick Bell, Dave Russell, Keith Mead

Obviously, the older supporters know the most players,as they've seen far more. Most of us,who follow Slough, know of these legendary names. Also,as in my case, older family members tell you tales of players you've missed out on.

I remember watching Eric Young playing for Wimbledon and Palace on the tv, but not playing for Slough.I started watching Slough regularly at the tail end of 1987 although I had watched the odd game before that and as a young kid had been to the Dolphin stadium several times. So I may have seen him but the memory of this has gone.

It doesn't matter how long or short you've supported the team, everyone has their favourites wether as technically gifted players or just good blokes on and off the field and so,all fantasy Slough Town teams are welcome.

I should have added that having seen my first game in the 87/88 season and then only started going regularly in the 90s I decided to limit my selection to only players I've seen.

We are very fortunate now to have the brilliant player database added to Alan Smith's great knowledge. My first read in the programme is always "On this day" and so all these players I've heard of and know to be Slough legends and great payers but don't think it is fair for me to include them on reputation only having never seen them play.

3spirit, for me West in his first spell at the club was the best out and out goal scorer I've seen play for Slough although I'm sure your front two would score plenty! Hercules, had to make my squad simply for his versatility signed as a prolific striker he then found himself selected as a centre half in a crisis and was so good he kept his place there. Great player.

I'ts true us older supporters would have a larger database of memories to pick from and if you accept the fact that so called amatuer plays of the 60's & 70's were in most cases good enough to play pro football, I would offer the fact that other than Steve Thompson no Slough players of the last 20 years would get into any best team.

So my best is as follows:

Richard Teale

Ian Reid - John Delaney - Eric Young- Ray Eaton

Roger Day- Steve Thompson- Terry Reardon- Les Barrett

David Kemp-Gary Abbot.

Between 1965 and 1980 you could pick many different sides because we were blessd with some really good players-when you think I have left out Jeff Bateman and John Richards, Kieth Mead etc.etc.

Hotspur, other than Steve Thompson and Gary Abbott!

McCleary and Sharif are good shouts but couldn't get into my wing-back formation. Be interesting to see what becomes of Sharif. He will either grind out a career in league football, return to the higher echelons of non-league or end up lost to the game. McCleary seems to have done pretty well and scored a screamer for Forest the other day although I suspect they see him as a bit of a luxury player.

Forgot about McCleary! The main reason I opted for Shariff was his speed. He certainly has the potential to make a name in League football and is the right age, although his size may go against him.

A lot of players hit their peak with other teams ie Mark West at Wycombe Wanderers and Steve Bateman at Chesham.I thought Cliff Hercules was a right handful when he was at Aylesbury. When he arrived at Slough,we managed to get a good couple of seasons out of him upfront before he began to wane and Brian McDermott saw the potential of him as a centre back,so we gained another player almost.

Because of the quality keepers we've had over the years, can't for the life of me see how Clark Masters makes it in your dream team,Ian,but each to their own! The rest of your team, I can see where you're coming from but as I've highlighted above,Michael Gilkes was past his best when we got him.So should he count.

I thought Masters was superb and has gone on to play at a decent level. I saw Wilkerson when he was at Watford and he never looked that good!

Yes, Gilkes was in the twilight of his career when at Slough hence my adjustment and putting in Gareth McLeary.

Watching slough properly since 02/03 so will base it on players seen after this time and not when I watched 1 or 2 games a season.

Warrington

Palmer. Daly. Woozley. Murphy

Mcleary wilko coyne sharif

Hodges burnell

Warrington is best keeper I have seen. Daly and Woozley are both quality. Murphy is best left back in league. Palmer great to watch. Mcleary and sharif have proved their quality. Wilko gets stuck in allowing coyne to spread the ball about a d roam. Both strikers goal records speak for themselves.
