I think it is more serious that this. It's only my opinion, but I would say there were 700+ at Park Lane on that Saturday. Yesterday's gate was just over 500 and I would suggest that against Dover it looked like there were half as many again. If Dover's accusation stands up, Canvey could be kicked out of the FA Cup as well as a fine. It's not the first time I have noticed an attandance figure in a home cup game that seems low but have always assumed that Ray Cross is an honest man and the club official know what they are doing.

 

Lets hope that on investigation the figures do add up.

I think the simplest thing to do is issue out little tickets on the turnstile. Remember the farce with Billericay last Boxing Day? No-one knew how much they'd paided as there was no way of tracking who come in when, which could've meant kids paying £5 to get in COULD'VE re-claimed a whole £9 if they looked old enough!!! <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Have to agree with Merv I think the Dover game was the biggest crowd this season by far.In the NLP Dover claim that Canvey told them there was only 129 paying adults.Ray Cross needs a new Abacus as its clear the one hes got doesnt work that good!

But back to the topic....I would've thought after the Billericay Boxing Day fixture fiasco and being reported to the FA our Club virtually knocking on the door of the Conference would act a bit more responsible/professional in the way it 'sums up' an attendance(s).

Maybe it wouldn't look so bad if we done it with League games as well, (we probably do) but when the Gate Money is split between the two teams and a percentage going to the FA, it's not only the other team we're conning surely?

1. what the crowd was..

2. how many freebies there were for officials , press bonces, relatives, friends, other club members that only turn up for the big games..blah etc blah..
