'Sir' Fred Goodwin

Recommended Posts

I see that Fred Goodwin was unceremoniously stripped of his Knighthood yesterday, the Queen approved the decision after a Forfeiture Committee of senior mandarins, who would normally only meet if the recipient of an honour had been convicted of criminality or illegality, reviewed the Knighthood bestowed on so called Fred 'The Shred' in 2004 for services to banking. Goodwin, 53, joins an infamous Club to lose their prestigious honours, the list of shame includes Anthony Blunt, Jack Lyons and evil Robert Mugabe with disgraced boxer Prince Naseem Hamed losing an MBE for dangerous driving and jockey Lester Piggott his OBE after being convicted of tax fraud.

The honours system only exists to make flunkies and self important people feel even more important. The quicker they scrap this self congratulatory nonsense the better.

With regards to Fred Goodwin, wouldn't it be nice if Fred's pension pot was given to one of his ex banker colleagues to gamble with it as they wished (Nick Leeson would be a good choice).

Why anyone would want or need a title or letters after their name celebrating our horrific colonial past is beyond me. These titles are passed out to people doing their jobs FFS, most of them either being paid extraordinarily bloated amounts of money or doing the things that they love often selfishly such as expeditionists who not only risk their own lives but those of the people who often have to save them. What a load of tosh. Those toadying up to them need shooting too. Rhodes will be a prime example working in the civil service where these idiots just feather their own nests looking for a pat on the back for doing nothing more than they are paid for, snivelling up to their lords and masters with Sir this, Sir that, can i wipe your ar$e for you Sir? Go on, deny it Rhodesly.

Fred Goodwin should be out doing community service, sweeping roads or helping children cross roads before and after school, he's lucky he didn't end up in prison for losing taxpayers nearly £50bn.

He's already cost the taxpayer enough, why waste the cost of a bullet. Freeze his assets, confiscate them and put him and his type to work on the roads and in inner cities clearing up. It's this type of Tory Boy and their supporters who moan about "broken Britain" and yet are responsible with their endless puckering and sucking up, put them all out to clear up.

Silly man, because of your posts being supposedly pre-moderated it wasn't even up when I posted. Interesting that you don't deny your pansying around the titled and we can read you like a book Rhodesly. Your sort are like turkeys voting for Christmas with a good stuffing.

The problem with making people like Goodwin do menial work is that these talented people would then be lost to the banking industry, and capitalism and our forelock tugging social structure could be destroyed forever.

Anyone that can think up ideas like putting up prices for customers, sack lower paid staff and make those that are left work harder, and then ask them to take a pay cut, is obviously a genius and deserve every penny they earn.

Goodwin a genius? Well he lost the taxpayers £45bn so lets hope we don't need too many people with his talent. In any case this duffer has retired now, originally with £650,000 per year pension at the taxpayers expense it looks like, which was reduced to the paltry sum of £350,000 per year - I don't know how he'll manage, do you?

I think he has taken himself off the job market and will be free to do a bit of community service towards making restitution.

Goodwin a genius?

Loosely - I make Missunderstood right, Goodwin was a genius and presided over the Royal Bank of Scotland's rise to global prominence whereby, in just eight years under Goodwin, they became the World's largest company by assets and the World's fifth-largest bank by stock market capitalisation

Well thats up to you and coming from you I'm hardly surprised that you think losing £45bn is genius given the organisation you work for is £38bn in the red. All paid for by hardworking tax paying citizens now enduring fewer public services then they've paid to enjoy.

We could perhaps thank the genius Fred Goodwin and the geniuses of the MoD for breaking this country given the amounts of money involved.

Until the "greed is good" philosophy is totally discredited I'm afraid the Fred Goodwin's of this world will continue to flourish.

Loosely - Well Missunderstood said it all in the above post, society as it has sadly become today is governed by greed and everything is about money, money, money, it shows how Abba were light years ahead of their time by seeing the writing on the wall and singing about it in the 70's

lol, what an idiot. ABBA were celebrating money, christ could you be any thicker?

I work all night, I work all day, to pay the bills I have to pay

Ain't it sad

And still there never seems to be a single penny left for me

That's too bad

In my dreams I have a plan

If I got me a wealthy man

I wouldn't have to work at all, I'd fool around and have a ball

Money, money, money

Must be funny

In the rich man's world

Money, money, money

Always sunny

In the rich man's world

Aha-ahaa

All the things I could do

If I had a little money

It's a rich man's world

It's a rich man's world

A man like that is hard to find but I can't get him off my mind

Ain't it sad

[. From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/a/abba-lyrics/money-money-money-lyrics.html .]

And if he happens to be free I bet he wouldn't fancy me

That's too bad

So I must leave, I'll have to go

To Las Vegas or Monaco

And win a fortune in a game, my life will never be the same

Money, money, money

Must be funny

In the rich man's world

Money, money, money

Always sunny

In the rich man's world

Aha-ahaa

All the things I could do
