Wolverton Town

Recommended Posts

I have heard this sleeping SSML giant is starting to wake up, Club house renovated, ground fenced in, big gates leading to car park. Does anyone have any info on who's involved and whats going on? They were a real force back in the day with some memorable FA Cup runs. Apparently they are flyering the area and are planning to get to Southern Prem.

Yes. Moving to the old Rugby Ground and money from the local council.

Hmmmm interesting, I wonder if it's a similar deal to Garforth if it's to do with development. Will be worth keeping an eye on things. Hopefully people don't use it as an opportunity to line pockets or pay players for a few years till it runs out.

Another football topic I'm sure plastic mods won't be contributing to!

Winslow Boy,

Don’t worry all of us involved in Wolverton are only interested in one thing as that’s to try and get back to our old glory days. We have had a lot of work done but still have a lot more to do before we can think to get back to where we were when I was at the club the first time. Our first aim is South Mids football which we are working to and then we will see where our football takes us. All profits from the bar etc is invested in the facilities to improve every aspect of the clubhouse and ground but for football and for the local community. We are aiming to build a really community club, we already have 3 teams with a first team, reserves and Vets and over the next few years will see the introduction of a Ladies team and colts team then after then who knows. We are keeping our feet on the ground but with me returning to the club and my Dad rejoining as president

to join the already healthy committee

we have a wealth of South Mids experience and know what we need to achieve to succeed.

Good luck Adie I think that's great, anyone involved now who was around in the heyday? Admittedly it was a little before my time but I do know Wolveron Town had some great sides and some great achievements, I did play at the old ground against MK City a few times.

My Dad and I were both there when we got promotion under Roger Ashby to the Isthmian Division One, with some Great FA Cup matches against Stafford Rangers and Tamworth. A lot of the committee are the family of the late Bob Swann who was secretary for a good few years who sadly passed away at one of our games in 1986. His Daughter and grandsons were the instigators in starting the wolves back up in his memory

Good luck to all involved. Fantastic to see a famous name from the past (hopefully) on the up and helping the local community in turn. What non league footy is all about.

Are the Wolves applying for the SSMFL during the summer? Do they have to finish in top two of their league?

If they're in North bucks Prem a move to SSML div 2 is sideways so shouldn't been a issue, if they were to win it or runners up feasibly they could go into div 1. maybe Milton Keynes Is overdue a top non league club.

Is there not a ruling for the SSML whereby you’re not allowed to be involved with two Club’s at the same time at Board level

There definitely isn't a rule about not being involved on any level with any club so you are ok Rhodesy

The feeder leagues for promotion from the North Bucks Premier Division are either Spartan South Midlands Division Two or United Counties League Division One. The North Bucks League sits below Step 7 in the pyramid.
