Yeah I would agree and you've got to wonder how all the guys who regularly play for the res who were left out feel?

I'm not sure if they do it on purpose, its just they probably cannot fill a team but it still does not make it fair and right.

Also note, they will always be midweek games.

Always our res used to fall foul of this a lot. Our policy with a large reserve squad is fringe or players that have been on bench for 1sts or coming back from injury get a game. Usually no more than 3 and only because they maybe haven't had much pitch time in a few weeks.

Totally agree. 3 should be the maximum.

If the reserves cannot fill a team then the manager is not doing his job properly. And usually a lot of teams in the SSMFL have Under 18 teams, so should be promoting those players to the reserves.

Agree they are there to support first team but they can't do that if every midweek they are dumped for first team players leave then teams struggle to get a reserve side out then no support structure.
