Sheerwater FC - The Future

CW1975

Recommended Posts

It has been announced that plans have been drawn up to redevolope and improve facilicties at the Sheerwater Recreation Ground. This will include development of the Bishop David Brown School sports facilities.

Initial plans are to get Sheerwater FC's facilities to the required ground grading in time for the 2012/13 Season. This will include, extending the pitch length by around 10 yards and installing the required floodlights.

Working alongside the athletics club, further plans have been proposed to build a new clubhouse which may include a raised veiwing area on the sprint straight side of the athletics track for athletic meetings and football match veiwing.

In addition to the plans for both the athletic club and football club WBC are hoping to introduce a cricket pitch and three junior football pitches at the recreation ground. A 3G football pitch within the grounds of BDB School and a second grass pitch adjacent to the athletic track have also been proposed. The 3G pitch will be available for SFC training.

At the moment everything is going to consultation but the future looks bright if everything can be agreed to. This is exciting times for Sheerwater FC and probably the best breakthrough the club have had for many years.

If all goes ahead the facilities at the Sheerwater Recreation Ground will be very good and can propel Sheerwater FC to the senior level of football everyone at the club is trying to achieve.

In time we will be able to introduce a youth development programme for the football club of which we are already drawing up plans.

We will also be looking for volunteers to help take the club forward and a new committee structure will be announced in the near future. With everyone working together we hope to progress our football club.

This has been a very interesting project for everyone currently involved with the club and shows that work is being done off the pitch to make another great football club for the Woking Borough.

Great news for Sheerwater and especially Trevor Wenden. From experience at Knaphill FC we had to endure 4 years of meetings, planning, funding, waiting, waiting and more waiting to get the stand and floodlights.

I just hope Woking FC don't get on the band wagon and try and use the proposed facilties...they have achieved that at our ground! and of course operate an U18's side out of Westfield's aswell.

Not a penny or any effort put into Redding Way from Woking FC, lights went in, thank you very much we will use that now then go and operate two teams out of there! and they still don't do F.A towards the upkeep/appearance of the ground!

Just on that we have complete control of our ground. It was our decesion 3 years ago to take the academy as our youth side as any decent young player we had was being snapped up anyway by the college.

Cant dispute though ( and i am a Woking fan) that if they had their own way they would use every ground they can including as you say Sheerwaters once it's complete
