Dodgy chairman and supporters trusts

Following on from the 'clubs in trouble' thread, read my latest programme article about how clubs are being brought to the brink by their chairman and often saved by their fans http://sloughtownsoa...ers-trusts.html

Good quote from Steve Easterbrook, who is definetly not a dodgy chairman! He also points out how Slough Town Supporters Trust help the club. Make sure you are a member of the Trust.

And yes, i might even get to a game soon.

Very interesting and enlightening article as always BR!

Unless you've already done so, perhaps you could do an article about dodgy (or just plain poor!) managers and how they're affecting the game?:

1. Graham Westley for what he did to Farnborough

2. Keith Scott for overspending his budget at Windsor & Eton

3. Harry Redknapp for his tax evasion trial

4. Steve Evans for what he did to Boston United & Dagenham & Redbridge.

Not quite as large subject to talk about I know, but still one I feel is worthy of an article, and one which is IMHO almost as serious as dodgy chairmen!

And you have proof that these managers did as you are supposing??

1. Here

2. Windsor & Eton FC were wound up in February 2011 due to an unpaid £240,000 tax bill. It has never been proven exactly what happened to cause this, so I shall amend my original statement slightly to "Keith Scott for allegedly overspending his budget at Windsor & Eton".

3. Sorry, but are you trying to tell me he's not on trial?

4. Here

Taken from the "flown from the nest" web site page for former Norwich players "Despite winning the Southern League South & West division in 2009/10, Keith was sacked from his position in May 2010 and replaced by David Mudge."

How many managers get sacked for gaining promotion? - I will let Mal316 then tell us the reason he got the sack.

Nathan, dodgy chairman, dodgy managers, i think its all to do with how clubs are run generally which is why supporters must be involved in decisions, have a place on the board and take over clubs when needed.

I think one simple way the Trust could increase and keep membership is to sort out direct debit. Much easier for it to come out of my bank account at the beginning of the season than remember to go and find Ollie.

A very good read, thanks for sharing.

At Gloucester, we fortunately have a good board and chairman in Mr. Nigel Hughes. It's the elements that have conspired against us mostly recently :(

Maybe ironically, the team mentioned in your post as opponents were named as Chertsey Town. Thinking back to how their ex-owner Spencer Day acted reminds me of a potentially worse 'footballing enemy' i.e. The Walt - the guy who promises a golden platter but delivers a turd stew instead.

Let's hope that 2012 onwards, the fans start to have more say and more power in the running of THEIR club.
