CCL Reserve Teams

Recommended Posts

I am preparing a study on CCL clubs reserve team football.

As far as I am aware, the following 7 CCL clubs are not running any reserve OR Under 18 midweek youth team in the 2011/12 season?

Guernsey

Feltham

South Kilburn

Badshot Lea

Croydon

Wembley

Banstead Athletic

We currently have the following numbers in various reserve leagues.

Suburban League = 12

CCL Reserve Division = 15

Surrey Intermediate West = 1 (Spelthorne Sports)

Clubs with Under 18 Team Only = 5

(Guildford City, Egham Town, Windsor, Cove, Dorking).

TOTAL = 40 CCL Clubs.

Please advise of any innaccuracies.

Ta.

Am aware of that HTFCS and aware of all youth teams at clubs.

Just looking to fill any gaps of clubs who run 1st team with youth team who may have a reserve side.

Interesting topic C.C. Note that 3 Teams who do not have Reserve sides, are flying high in the Premier,so less drain on resources for those Clubs.Guernsey the cost would be too high,to have a reserve side.

Dorking FC do not have a Reserve side, but they do have an Under 18's side, who I'm reliably informed are top of their League.

They also have a Ladies side which is still a bit of a rareity !

Croydon don't have a reserve team simply because of cost, as we have to hire are ground each game finances don't stretch that far. Hopefully next season we can mange to get one started as we now have a big squad and alot of interest each week from players wanting to join us

What is the point of a youth team witha stepping stone (i.e Reserves) to the 1st Team.

To most people the jump is too big.

A well managed youth set up will feed players through the structure and to the first team.

With lots of teams in a small area and less and less money available it should provide a source of players.

A few weeks ago did Badshot Lea not cancel a game, get fined and lost points. Running 1 team results insituations like this !!!!!!!!!

Good point Fixit, does anyone know (Whitelaw) what was the outcome of Badshot Lea not fielding a team 'cos of a flu epidemic ! Were they fined, deducted points or did they just get a slap on the wrist from the CCL ?

Cc at Mole Valley we are still quite a young club so don't have a midweek under 18s yet. We have a suburban league side and a Sunday under 18s but will look in the future for a midweek under 18s

At Westfield we currently have a ressies, youth team and ladies side. Sadly the youth side has been adopted by Woking FC as we were struggling to get players in with Woking having signed most players in the local area. We are currently in talks to get that rectified for the start of next season and also planning links with local Sunday sides to encourage players to join our youth ranks when they reach the appropriate age!

Good news. We played "Westfield" on Monday (lost 0-2).
