Match Preview: MFC vs Charlton Athletic

Was chatting to a Charlton FC supporter (work colleague) last night & he seems to think that in this cup teams HAVE to play at least 4 first teamers. I have checked this out with the Kent FA & they say that is not the case.Just so long as they are affiliated to the club as a player anyone can play.

Of course we are all expecting youth & reserves to be out there but Charlton 1st team don't have a mid week game scheduled for this week so who knows they might give one or two a run out.

Wouldn't hold my breath about that Cookie - their site lists it as Margate v CAFC XI and says of the 2 remaining

senior first-t

eamers from their last KSC match, one (Pritchard) won't be in the team because he's 'enjoying a run in Chris Powell's starting XI'. Expect no more than their reserves & academy players.

The last forecast I saw said rain during the day but clearing up this pm / evening. Given resonable recent weather I'd be surprised if there was a probem with the pitch for tonight's match, barring monsoon-like copmditions during the day.

The pitch is currently being rolled and isn't too soft underfoot just yet. Thankfully yesterday's verti-drain procedure should give us the best chance of ensuring tonights game goes ahead. Will post another update as things progress into this afternoon.

"Richard Avery is one of the squad’s Charlton fans, and looking forward to the match. “I definitely want to play,” he said. “Everyone else does – it’s a big game.”

Watch out for the odd slip up by Richard tonight then! (Only kiddin' Richard, only kiddin'!) :D ;) :D ;)
