VERY Disappointed with the reaction to Guernsey's loss on Forum and Twitter

Recommended Posts

I'm very dissapointed that fans from so many clubs have found the need to insult our club after our first home defeat.

Please be aware that Guernsey is not only our club but our country. Imagine if we came on here insulting England ! ( Which we would never do as we support England in football ).

We have behaved like gentleman when we have lost before and I personally posted a new topic saying well done when we lost to Cobham and Spelthorne Sports.

Quite a number of people are delighted that we have lost something I can't get my head around really as when we visit other clubs we are always friendly and when clubs visit us we treat them like royalty.

The referee on Saturday was booed off the pitch on Saturday something I have never seen in 35 years of watching Guernsey play, thats how bad he was no exaggeration.

Its seems we can do no right on this forum when we beat teams 5-0 people say the scoreline has flattered us or even sometimes we shouldn't have won ludicrous !

If we with a reputation like a certain other team in our division I could see why we would get such hostility and joy when we lose, but the fact of the matter is we just want to meet new people, have a laugh and a chat and watch matches that are officiated to a reasonable standard.

Because I can't seem to post anything without getting a hositle response this forum has now not become fun for me anymore so I will not be posting on here anymore.

I will now wish Eversley the best of luck for the rest of the season, as I said to them direct they were the best team I've seen at Footes Lane this season. They came with a game plan ( I didn't like it, nor did the crowd ! ) and it worked.

I've met some nice genuine people on the forum and I'm sure I will bump into some of you at away games ( Smudge I will see you around ! ).

Signing off forever !

GD, if we all 'ran away' when the going got tough or the first thing went against us then there would be none of us left. People like to see the underdog win and will revel in it when it happens. As for the officials, I see Guernsey sometimes have poor opinions of referees when you play away but not at home, the league, cleverly, tend to send the better officials to your home games as there higher profile. You've had your first experience of a poor one, there will be more to follow I can guarantee that. You will need to be a 'thicker skinned' if you wish to progress as a club through the pyramid

Yeah come on GD I think you are overreacting. Who cares if people give us some abuse when we lose? I would rather it be that way since it means we are obviously succesful. All succesful clubs, Manchester United being the prime example, are teams that everyone wants to see lose. You just have to take it on the chin and move on - Guernsey will finish the season as Champions, I would put my house on it!

Congratulations to Eversely though, I thought their performance was brilliant.

Blimey GD has Smudge rubbed off on you. Of course people want to see Guernsey lose as that is the English way. Most sides cant wait for Windsor or Guildford slip up either !!!

Grow a pair of [censored] and man up GD . You were beaten by a side who took advantage of the situation in front of them.. I'm sure Guernsey have been watched by the Eversley coaching staff when you have played away and they had a game plan to frustrate your players and annoy the crowed when they went to your place. Andy clement played for Wimbledon and they were the experts at being the underdogs and getting under your skin. You own coaching staff staff stated that it was a tough game when you played them away.. The Ref good of bad is part of the conditions as is the weather.. If you are sulking in the corner after this result then you will be spending a lot of time in that corner over the next few years so I suggest you get yourself a comfy chair

This in a nutshell. All part of the brainwashing that the British media go in for. For too many years, the media and public have built people and teams up only to knock them down at the first opportunity. Look at what the media did to Ian Botham. The same can be said for the success that has come the way of Man Utd and Chelsea to name two. The media are currently creaming themselves with regard to Man City. Just wait and see how they will treat them AFTER they win a Premier League title.

The key GD is to rise above it. No one likes a winner in this country.

Everyone wants Man City, once Chelsea to get beaten (except their supporters) simply 'cos with the money injected by millionaires they have BROUGHT the league.... thats why we Brits love to see them get beat. People love a David and Goliath thats why the FA Cup and Vase are so special. We want to see such ''moneybag'' teams losing 'cos of no home breed players, but being able to buy the best players in order to buy/win the league tends to annoy people calling it cheating, but we know its not.......just lucky !

Big teams are there to be knocked down, so its a true credit to those teams who have to cope with being knocked week in and week out needing to prove their worth cos of the money spent, thats pressure including being the manager.. As a minute example other non-league clubs in various leagues including the CCL have the same, as there are teams with big budgets such as Chertsey (last few seasons), Badshot Lea , Windsor, Guildford etc.which clubs like to beat and like to see get beat ......I heard yesterday that Whitehawk budget is allegedly £5000 a week...... so that's life GD just get on with it before I touch the subject of Guernsey's budget.......lol !

Let me tell you GD stop feeling sorry for yourself, you'll have your day when Guernsey are promoted probably as champions. then watch and read the applaud Guernsey will get from us Forumites.

Finally GD, you have to understand that Guernsey are in the above bracket as you said above, COUNTRY thats what clubs feel they are playing against cos Guernsey have the pick of all your countries best players, so in theory, each CCL opponent feels they are actually playing against your country not a club...,!

1st:- Guernsey 80 Points

2nd:- Bedfont Sports 46 Points

OK - Guernsey lost a game at home, but what's the problem ? I call a 34 point lead at the top a very comfortable cushion !

We were 3-0 up at Bookham only for all this to happen ! This is from the match report ( on Guernsey FC Official Site ) when we last had Mr Fish Refereeing us, make of it what you will...............

But the visiting midfield began to lose its overwhelming influence on the game, not helped by the

pitch or the regularity of referee Brian Fish in awarding questionable home free-kicks for seemingly

innocuous offences.

And the pitch nearly played a part when a harmless cross hit a divot, bounced alarmingly onto Tardif’s

shoulder and thankfully went out for a corner, via the crossbar.

The faultless Tardif had to be alert once again to punch away Ashley Thompson’s ball in under

pressure, while Allen had a shot cleared off the line at the other end.

Allen would soon be forced to depart the action with an ankle knock that would harm GFC’s shape

and formation more than they could have expected, but not before Tardif was called upon again in

style.

Chin’s curling effort was bound for the top corner, until the ex-professional keeper somehow kept it

out with a sprawling one-handed save for a corner, although the danger was not over.

Cochrane headed back towards his own goal under pressure, with Tardif punching away, before

Charlie West could only turn Chin’s low cross against Tardif from all of five yards.

But despite that increasing pressure, Luke Winch very nearly sealed the game on two separate

occasions, as he took it upon himself in Allen’s absence to try and grab the fourth.

Firstly, his stinging volley could only find the crossbar from 15 yards, before he nearly made the

improbable a reality from just over the halfway line.

With the ball sitting up nicely and Kennard off his line, the teenager’s up-and-down effort from 45

yards was only just kept out by the retreating Bookham keeper.

But within 60 seconds of that save, Bookham were back in it and opened up the possibility of a

memorable comeback.

A free-kick pumped forward found David Fuller, who was able to turn his header over the helpless

Tardif from close range and set up a frantic ending.

In fairness, GFC generally defended well during that period, averting the danger, until substitute Nick

Kemble made it 3-2 in the last minute of normal time.

A low corner in was not dealt with at all well at the near post and Kemble’s poked effort towards goal

found its destination, despite Chris Mauger’s desperate last-ditch attempted clearance.

And nerves became increasingly frayed when Fish bizarrely added on nearly seven minutes to the

allotted 90, despite there being no injuries or stoppages of note to speak of.

The equaliser could have come when yet another free-kick nearly dropped into goalscoring range,

but Tardif was on hand to jump on the ball and smother the danger.

Fish did finally blow his whistle after what seemed like an eternity for the sizeable GFC crowd and

buoyed by news of Bedfont Sports’ slip-up, made for a satisfying day for the Lions, albeit an unlikely

nerve-shredding one.

TEAMS

Bookham: Daniel Kennard, James King, David Fuller, Charlie West, James Duke, Joe Goodman,

I'm not back I'm just adding to my previous comments.

Even when we won with Mr Fish refereeing me and and the majority of the supporters weren't happy with him.

We won and I still thought he was a ******** so thats not sour grapes is it.

I await the hostile or sarcastic response
