Can't speak for Royston but I'd guess at Ampthill we have exceeded what we thought possible at the outset of this competition, guess too the priority was always promotion so unlike some clubs still left in who make winning this competition the be all and end all of their season we have to just enjoy the moment, the longer we stay in will suit clubs trying to pip us for promotion, so let's enjoy, we are under no pressure whatsoever, the whole of Ampthill FC come what may can hold their heads high and be proud, however I so hope we are in the draw for the last 16.......:-)

We are fortunate enough to have the opportunity of travelling down to Bournemouth on Friday afternoon/evening and staying in a good hotel on the sea front half a mile from the ground . Seemed a good idea at the time to save any possible travel problems Saturday and its been a great night for team spirit, good meal , card games etc etc. All the best to Ampthill Town as well and heres for both making the last 16 !!

I'm surprised the Ampthill Town hierarchy didn't have that idea too and pay for the players and management to stay in a decent hotel in Leicester last night or somewhere out in the sticks just outside Oadby, afterall it is the biggest game in the Club's history and they have made a pretty penny from their FA Vase run so far

You're right Rhodes, especially as Leicester is so obviously much further away than Bournemouth is, you kn0b, you'll probably have us believe that Leicester has better beaches too???

unfortunately Royston picked a bad day to have an off day. Found it hard to gain first half control in a fierce end to end wind on an awfull playing surface (for both teams to play). TWO very poor goals conceded in the first 20 minutes made it tough enough and despite Bournemouth having a player harshly dismissed before the break it was still always going to hard from there. Royston severely laid siege to the home goal 2nd half with a consolation on 65 minutes but the hosts had more about them on the day with The Crows struggling to create chances and in honesty the scoreline was probably fair . Bournemouth are no better than a bottom of half table side in SSMFL but played the conditions better with their home advantage and whilst hard to take Royston wish them luck and now concentration goes to the league campaign

Sounds in some ways that the Royston game was similar to ours, the end to end wind you have to accept but the playing surface was awful, haven't seen a SSML pitch like theirs was all season, just a an absolute soaking wet mud bath?

Oadby also scored twice in the opening 20 minutes, and looked like they'd run riot as we just couldn't get going.

The turning point though came just before the midway point in the second half, a clear 2 footed lunge by the centre half caught one of our players just outside the area, it was that blatant, the punishment....a straight YELLOW???

Where's the consistency, the marks on our players leg said it all.

No one takes away from the fact Oadby were the better team, no one is denying them their place in the last 16, no one is saying their player who made the tackle is a dirty player, it just leaves a nasty taste that once again an official in a game of this level made a massive mistake, that simple.

Which is a shame, coz other than that we didn't turn up and could have no complaints, good luck to Oadby though and with them noisy supporters will be hoping for another home draw in the last 16.

Ampthill have done their club and the league proud well done guys.

Royston have thrown lots of money in their quest for promotion and i think they will get there.

Home advantage is critical at this stage of the competition if you dont have a really strong side.

Ampthill after are all level 6 right now and a trip to Bournemouth in a traditionally strong league was always going to be a tough ask.

Disappointing but there are 300 other clubs who did worse than you!!

LOL....we never went to Bournemouth.

Know what you mean and yeah have done better than expected, earnt some money which is always useful at this level and think we avoid the qualifying rounds next season too.
