uxbridge v st

I think Uxbridge can count themselves a bit unlucky. They were an entirely different side to the one that we played Saturday although as one Uxbridge fans put it....."that's because we're not playing on a ploughed field". Fair point!

St Newts had plenty of the ball without creating clear opportunities. Uxbridge scored a very well taken goal and had two other first half opportunities that would have made the game very interesting - one well worked corner than narrowly missed the post and a rasping drive which the keeper did brilliantly to tip over. My view was that Uxbridge probably paid St Newts a bit too much respect. I thought they should have got in their faces a bit more. The equaliser came right on half-time.

In the second half it was much of the same - St Newts are certainly not afraid to play the ball around even at the back but Uxbridge still caused problems when they attacked. The winner was a catastrophe - James Duncan gave the ball away under pressure right in front of his own goal and left the St Newts player the simplest of tasks.

Just 140 in attendance made up of about 30 Rebels!!

Uxbridge were unlucky! Bloody hell, I must of been watching a different match! Yes our keeper made one good save and there was one goal line scramble after an Uxbridge corner, but St Neots comfortably dominated possession, got behind their back four with ease and with a better final ball could have scored more. Better second half from both teams. Defo Think if Uxbridge came at us a bit more we'd have murdered em!

I think the boys would be very happy with the 3 points and ball retention what we do. Its our way and very different from the majority of teams in this league.

Final Ball and Finishing could have been better, with a a score of chances, easily saved or off target. Just out of interest what did you think to Junior Kanodu in centre Midfield?

I should think they are happy with 3 points although with the players you have this league is yours for the taking. You can only retain the ball if you have the quality of players (and surface) to do it and as I've said before if St Newts don't win it then it's a massive underachievement from players and management. Kanodu had a good game last night and was difficult to get the ball off although I still think Uxbridge allowed St Newts too much time to play.
