The average attendance for all games in 94-95 will also include the "home" game with Birmingham despite this being played at St. Andrews.

Good to see the attendances have been increasing over the last 4 seasons :D

Re - Northwich (and Aylesbury United for that matter). How is it possible to have a new ground built and then to have it sold from under you? Sincerely hope we ensure that our prospective new ground can't be taken away from us.

Chris Sliski is right, we should only play at a level we can afford. Conference National looks a step too far IMO.

Depends, obviously you would like to stay within your budget.

Slough's advantage is in marketability - it has the largest trading estate on its doorstep. If/when the club manages to move back to Slough and is able to get more people through the gates, awareness will increase and with that sponsorship opportunities will increase.

Currently Conference national is too far but I don't think it isn't a realistic ambition.

I understand the drop from from 92-93 to 93-94 (Wycombe being promoted to the league) but why did the crowds fall by more than 300 from 96-97 to 97-98?

I think the fall 96/7 to 97/8 can be linked to the run in the Thornes were having with the council and the fact that the marketing of the club had dropped off. It can't be related to on field performances as 97/8 was a very good season (8th Conference National and S/F of FA Trophy).

Your right Ian.

Fantastic article on why it went wrong at Darlington http://daveboyle.net/analysis/darlington-by-george/

and Kettering http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=17099

This particularly pissed me off - Kettering still owe £3,000 to Essex Senior League club Southend Manor for gate receipts from their FA Cup match at Nene Park at the end of October. Imagine if that was us being owned 3 grand.

Gary: i make the average attendance for 08-09 as 251, not 232 (although I may be wrong).

The posted league attendances for 2008/09 season are 5,334 over 21 games = 254 average

I also make small differnces for 2007/08, 2005/06 and 2003/04. There was a significant attendance boost in 2005/6 and 2006/7 because of AFC Wimbledon. The attendance curve is much steady if these games were discounted:-

2003/4 = 322

2004/5 = 319

2005/6 = 312 adjusted

2006/7 = 243 adjusted relegated

2007/8 = 218 nearly relegated

2008/9 = 254

2009/10 = 244

2010/11 = 262

I believe the attendances in 2009/10 were distorted as a result of evening games against some of the more attractive visitors, but this is similar to the attendances either side of that season. Just shows what you can do with statistics!

UP THE REBELS!
