Very pleased to hear that. We played Broxbourne Saturday and they didnt seem to be that sort of side!

You should come when I go along to their games. Last 2 have had mass confrontations.

Guess where I am on Saturday? :D

Match abandoned at HT!!

oh well it was good while it lasted!

A report from another Forum:

South Midlands Senior Floodlight Cup - Semi Final

Cockfosters A Vs. A Broxbourne Borough

Admission: £4

Programme: £1

Attendance: 40, perhaps

Match abandoned at half time with Cockfosters leading 3-2. This was a very good match until that point and looked certain to become one of the best matches I've seen this season. Unfortunately the pitch proved too hard and the referee called the game off. I initially assumed that after some pushing and shoving and a red card to a Cockfosters player just before half time, things had kicked off in the changing rooms, but this wasn't the reason for the abandonment.

Cockfosters took the lead with a stunning volley from outside the box, only to blow it more or less straight from kick off and have Broxbourne equalise. Broxbourne then went 2-1 up with another great goal - ball was sent high and far to the right wingman who put the ball in the back of the net. Cockfosters equalised with a scramble and then took the lead with a header from a corner. All very exciting. The red card came about after the Broxbourne keeper grabbed the ball and the Cockfosters player continued trying to kick it. A soft brawl erupted, but I didn't see any punches thrown. One player was sent off and the keeper given a yellow.

I don't usually buy programmes but I was sold it before I realised. I was less bothered once I'd read it. A very good effort with an interesting little piece on the cup itself, which I had assumed was a product of the SSML, which is why earlier in the season I had wondered why Stansted were participating. In actualy fact, the cup is merely for clubs in the area who have floodlights.

On entrance to the ground on the left hand side is a covered area with tall and narrow bench seating. I haven't seen seating like this before so it made a nice change. The rest of the seating in this area is formed of seats which were presumably fixed to a stand somewhere at some point. Now these seats sit unsecured in the dirt. I almost fell backwards when I sat down as did the bloke next to me.

Hard standing around two sides, though it's possible to walk around three. There is no access along the far goal.

Chalk Lane is very easy to find, especially if you come by tube. I walked from New Barnet station. It's hilly around there, but an easy enough walk.
