WHITLEY BAY v SOUTH PARK F.A VASE 4th Round

Bad luck South Park, but despite a brave effort you were well beaten in the end. Only 1-0 down at half time playing against the wind I guess you were hopeful of getting back in the game but the sending off obviously didn't help your cause.

Even with 11 men I think you'd have struggled once Whitley got into their stride with some cracking goals, especially the second just after the interval which was the killer.

I must give huge credit to your keeper for his excellent banter with the crowd behind the goal. He took everything in good spirit and shook hands with some of the fans at the final whistle. You wouldn't see that in the Premier League!!

From what I could tell, you seemed to be having a good time in the clubhouse after the game and I hope you all enjoyed your night out in Newcastle!

All the best for the rest of the season.

What started so well, got bad and then terrible!

South Park played into the teeth of a biting wind and for, the first twenty minutes looked very comfortable. in fact they played all the football, keeping it on the deck and were never really troubled. After about 22 mins a corner from the right was swung was in brilliantly and instead of punching it, the keeper tried to catch it, the ball fell to the feet of a Whitley Bay player and it was one nil!!

South park continued to play all the football albeit without much end product. In the third minute of injury time at the end of the first half (don't know where the four minutes came from) just as we were saying , if they go in only one down I fancy Park to win this, Lavery went in for a tackle which I thought was a red card offence. The South Park players thought that both players had gone in with their feet up and that the Whiltley player should have gone as well. That effectively ended the game for Park because it all went down hill from then on.They still played come great football but committed to attack, they went man to man at the back and payed dearly for it.I honestly believe South Park would have won if it hadnt been for the sending off.Overall the scoreline did not reflect the match in any way, and the best player on the pitch was Danny Guscott who didnt put a foot wrong all game.

The wind was pretty cold at Meadowbank on Saturday, so I can just imagine what it must have been like up there.

I bet even the whippets had little coats on !

Great highlights!

IMO that looked a pretty harsh sending off based on that footage. Shame SP gave WB a helping hand in all of the goals in one way or another.

Nonetheless a great run for SP, a club that certainly seems to be on the up!!

It's really good to hear those kind remarks and I'm glad our north east hospitality was appreciated!

As for winning it - could we really do it for a fourth year in a row?? Without being greedy we'd love to but West Auckland, even at home, will be a very tough nut to crack, as we've found twice already this season!

If we do get back to Wembley again, come and join us!
