The past and present/Steve Bateman's notes.

In the Slough programme[of the Uxbridge game] Steve Bateman says he's still looking to add to what we already have and says he's loaned out Sam Bateman to get match time and experience.

I think both instances are commendable and right for this present time .

On the striker front, Didcot Town seem to have parted with their top scorer,Danny Seaward and replaced him with an ex-Slough player Aneclot Odhiambo, who played when Eddie Denton was our manager. The Didcot fans seem to rate Danny Seaward highly.

As I've never seen Danny Seaward play,I don't know whether he's a target man or not but he could be a useful acquisition to our squad.

Being that Dave Mudge and Joe Mitchell manage Didcot, maybe worth a enquiry especially as a couple of our other seven day approaches appear to have run aground.

Just a thought....

Danny Seaward is a tiny player, the same or possibly smaller than Danny Burnell or Steve Sinclair.

He's mainly been playing around the Reading area for a few years now including Sunday mornings.

He's a tricky ball player (bit like Sincs) and always gives 100% effort.

IMO he would not give us anything different to what we've already got.

Cheers,Reading Rebel, for informing me about Danny Seaward. I just happened to be reading the Didcot website and came across that he had left. Being that I've been following Diddy's fortunes this season and last, I had read many times the rave reviews, the fans gave Danny Seaward. As he seems another midget [ not politically correct,I know] we definitely won't want him,to go with our three upfront ! ha ha ha! Sorry Dan,Sean and Ben !

However,if he is a tricky ball player,he might offer us something different especially runnining from the 'hole' behind the front two.Love to see Steve Sinclair play this role, sometime, when the pitches get better.

Trust me, Danny Seaward cannot hit a barn door. 4 goals in 27 games and 2 of those were scored in his last game. Busy and tricky YES, intelligent, goalscoring striker NO

HP9, your figures do not correspond with the Didcot Town website statistics for 2011-2012. It appears he scored 8 goals in about 24 games but he didn't start every game [a few sub appearances].At least 1 goal every 3 or 4 games.

Being that Slough need a fourth striker who isn't going to get loads of game time, given the form of our other three strikers, especially with Steve Bateman's favoured Burnell and Sonner partnership. I thought this Seaward fellow may have been an option.

However,Reading Rebel, who I have the utmost respect for, in his opinions on this forum and how he views the Slough games/play, has put me wise on the player and so he's obviously too small, for what we need upfront.

I have just checked his record and you are correct that my correspondence is not correct with the Didcot website I apologise. IMO he is definately not what Slough need at this time and I have watched both Didcot and Slough numerous times this season.
