I couldn't go due to son's swimming training so selfishly speaking I'm ok with a postponement as should get to the rearranged fixture hopefully.

 

Who's that tedious twat ? someone who couldn't support his team...LOL !.

 

Feel sorry for Newport Pagnell having to travel all that way let alone all the spectators.

And we feel sorry for them as well NG but they understood we had done everything in our power to get the game on including checking 5 different weather sites who said the temperature wouldn't go below 0 degrees by 9pm ! What happened, we had -2 at 8pm but by the time everyone had gone home at 9.30 we were back to +1 again !

The old club has been on the wrong end of such decisions in the past having had a game at Truro called off at 1pm on a Saturday when we were already there yet every other game within a 10 mile radius went ahead - it's swings and roundabouts at the end of the day !

Windsor Sec. the blame is not of Windsor FC doing I understand, but I have to agree with Sparksy, what is the point of doing a freezing pitch inspection @ 3.30pm when the sun was out all day making the ground soft. It is a tough decision regarding frozen pitches as to when to get an inspection done. Preferably, I would have thought to find out what time your opponents tend to depart and see if one could get an inspection arranged around their departure time, which would have a later, more realistic pitch reading before the opponents (and spectators come to that) acually depart. BUT I am not naive enough to know that referee's are not at your beck and call however they would be should they be given good notice.

 

Something to consider next time, inspection later the better.

Cor blimey, me old china, I was on a wind-up. Made you bite though. By the way, an ex Ryman & CCL manager told me two weeks ago that Windsor's playing budget had increased to £2,200 a week. He said his source was someone reliable inside the club, although he wouldn't divulge a name to me.

That extra £400 found is probably for Chennells.........ha ha ha !!!

FFS, there is already a thread about the alleged budget at Windsor. Why not populate that one with your fantasies and leave this one to consider the non-event that was last night?

 

What irked me most was that the weather forecast was for a sharp frost. No matter what condition the pitch was in at mid afternoon, it was always going to get worse. The game could so easily have been called off 2 hours earlier but no. Yet, the match officials still took every penny of their fees and expenses. The vast majority who came in to the ground (approximately 100) chose to obtaion a refund. A few declined. With postponements of this nature, why can't the match officials be reimbursed with travel expenses only? And, as Windsor Sec mentioned, it must have been disheartening for everyone connected with Newport Pagnell Town. The M1 and M25 are not wonderful at the best of times! At least, they won't have picked up any injuries ahead of the FA Vase cup tie this coming weekend. Nor, for that matter, will we for our game away to Hanworth Villa.

 

But when all is said and done, it IS January. It is supposed to be cold!

We use a generator because the power supply into the ground isn't good enough - no law against that !

 

We were certainly NOT the club with a £66k budget as we haven't submitted any accounts yet as they're not due until May !

NG, the word is defunct and the simple reason I hadn't answered your question was because I hadn't seen it until now. The answer to your question is yes and no and before I'm accused of being obtusive your original question refers to THE generator but you changed that in your next post to A generator. Therefore W&E did have to use a generator but not the generator as over a period of time we've actually had 4 different ones from two different companies.

 

Hopefully that answers your question and stops you posting what everyone knows was going to come next. It isn't/wasn't our generator therefore it couldn't be sold to pay the debts !

Hence the 3.30 inspection. Newport were aiming to leave just after 4pm and the inspecting referee was only available for a short period around 3.30pm having picked up his kids from schools in Windsor !

I've been arranging pitch inspections for long enough now to realise how they should work but the simple fact is that even after following the advice given by the FA and various leagues with regards to inspections we were let down by the simple fact that the frost came in earlier than forecast and had it done what five independent weather forecast sites said it was going to do then there wouldn't have been a problem.
