Ok, we didn't get a result today, and to be honest 4-0 doesn't lie (unless you are a bitter, spiteful, childish Harry Enfield lookalike), but we gave it a real go in the second half and 4-0 down in injury time Hornchurch were still trying to attack and score a goal.

This is why I like watching Hornchurch, that spirit amonst the players must be tremendous.

The fans kept going as well, good turnout. Thought we might have a few more go up there, but it is mid January and money is tight.

So well done to the players, the management and officials at Hornchurch and to my fellow fans.

Congratulations to Grimsby on the win and I hope they go on to win the FA Trophy (for one thing it will make me feel a bit better about losing today!)

Thought that we didn't stop trying for 90 mins and it was a slight shame that we didn't get just the 1 goal for all the effort and determination that the players put into the game today!!

Very proud of the effort! :applause: thumbsup%20(2).gif

Great support from us all today, didn't stop singing at all through out the game!!

Well said!

Grimsby did a very efficient job today. The first goal was always going to be vital and the second knocked us for 6 IMO.

Without our main striker today was always going to be a difficult task. I hope the result doesn't affect league confidence. Credit to the players for giving it a go in the second half.

An enjoyable day on the road!

And well you should!

Your team were great today, especially in the second half. Hunt and Glover must be a cut-above at your level. You definitely deserved to at least score and my pre-match prediction of 4-2 might have been a fair reflection.

Your fans were great too, kept behind your team for the full 90 minutes and the conga was great to see!

One thing- obviously you see Tommy Black on a weekly basis but he was well off the pace today and I'm surprised, looking at his physique, that he can still cut it at such a relatively high level.

I don't think that any Grimsby fan would have begrudged you a goal yesterday. Most of us wanted your lads to score (after we went 4-0 up of course). You played some great passing football at times but the only criticism I have is than I hope you don't usually give forwards the amount of space and time Elding had for his 2 goals. I can definitely understand why you are top of your league though.

Good luck for the rest of the season, hope you enjoyed the fish n chips and that those that came by train didn't freeze too much waiting at Retford for an hour. :D
