More great stuff thanks Jeff; Dover report with keeper Brian Hughes playing for them, Maidstone with Johnny Maggs in goal and what about the Wealdstone lineup.

I know Wealdstone's George Duck scored masses of goals in the 1970's and early 1980's and their keeper John Morton also played for Margate briefly. I wonder what became of Wealdstone's right-back though ?...

...other thing about that report is it's written by Graham Channon who was a Margate player, even played once for the first team that very season.

Fantastic stuff Jeff. We are so lucky to have the best non-league history site.

Some of the reporting is top quality: I have just been reading about the 1-0 win over Kettering Town (player/manager Ron Atkinson). Almost as exciting as being there!

BTW does anybody recognise themselves in the crowd?

Also noticed that attendances below 600 are described as 'disappointing'. If only.

That is a great shot of Ron Atkinson...

...seems like the club would have been in really serious trouble during the 1970's if it wasn't for the fact that it owned several houses which they were able to sell. Shows what a forward thinking move it was to purchase them in the first place.

Didn't mention it elsewhere but I added a few bits to overall history page including one about the losses from 1973/74...
