Step 5 restructuring

Recommended Posts

Been a very thorough discussion on the CCL forum and if you have a minute go and have a look. We have even to keep our 2 x Rhodes under wraps pretty much so it stays on thread.

Been keeping an eye will be interested to see what happens. 2 should be able to go up from Prem and having 2 come down clubs that prob won't have been seen for a while will be interesting and for two teams who would be willing and able to go up should be rewarded for their efforts over a season, the whole thing is a bit stagnant

I am going on Sunday. It seems that the FA only want a reorg so that 12 clubs get relegated and 12 clubs get promoted. What a load of rubbish. They are going to inspect all level 5 clubs grounds because some leagues are not got this right. I bet they will charge each club too.

I think the Champons at Step 5 should go up automatically with Clubs finishing in places 2 to 5 having play-offs for a second promotion slot.

This would be on the assumption (sound like Rhodes now) that they all meet the relevant ground grading.

We do not want more football, Leagues of 20 at level 5 would be really good. My club last season played 68 games. So no play offs or extra games, just promote the 12 champions subject to GG and relegate 14 from level 4 and use ppg if required, Always promote excellence.

On one of the forums it quoted 25 team league until they get the required 22 teams, what utter nonsense. We do not need a reorg at level 5 what we need is for the FA to stop taking our money and also sort out some of the laws of the game and the finances of clubs. There is always a name that go bust every year so there is never 12 team to relegate from level 4. Also ground grading could be at a lower level.

Reducing the Step 5 Divisions to 20 is something I agree with. I would still keep the play-offs as it would not mean extra games since you would play less fixtures in the regular season.

Which Laws of the Game were you thinking of?

I don't think 22 (42 league games) is too many as long as clubs don't enter too many outside cup comps. 24/25 is too many - even if just for one season. I think they are counting on a few clubs failing the ground grading -

• That every effort should be made to establish 12 Step 5 divisions each of 22 clubs.

• To be included, Clubs must achieve Ground Grading Category F, as independently verified, by 31 March 2013.

• So as to not disadvantage any club, all clubs that meet the F Grade will be included in the new structure and to facilitate this, in the first season, 2013/2014, the number of clubs in each division may vary between 22 and 25.

• By adjustments being made to the number of relegated clubs from Step 5 over the following one or two seasons, numbers would reduce to 22 clubs.

There are currently 287 step 5 clubs and they want to reduce it to 12 x 22 = 264, so if all clubs meet the grading they will have to relegate 23 clubs more than normal over the following 1/2 seasons. Assuming each step 5 league has a step 6 below it, that could mean 3 down /2 up for 2 years to get down to 264. Is there enough space at step 6 to cater for these extra clubs?

Players on and off for injuries, late flags for offside, letting players take quick free kicks, encroachment at free kicks, pushing in the walls at free kicks I could go on and on, too much cheating by players and managers, too much bad language..

I am on a soap box now. Fixing all the wrong items as per usual.

Players health and saftey, too much football promoting fair play Gosh I am going on. We are amateurs not professionals who also complain about too much football. Promoting excellence on the field, playing surfaces there I go again......

Players on and off for injuries - Going off for injuries allows the physio to treat the injury. This speeds up the game. Also, in some cases players deliberately delay the re-start with an 'injury' so going off penalizes them rather than the opposing team.

Late flags for off-side - Called a delayed flag so as to make sure the correct player is penalize. Flaging early can be wrong if you flag the wrong person.

Letting players take a quick free kick - Already allowed.

Encroachment at free kicks - Cautionable offense for failing to retreat the required distance.

Pushing in the wall at free kicks - You usually find players from both teams doing this.

I would change the Offside law, too much interferenran and confusion and potentially consider a sin bin, however I vary between agreeing and disagreeing with this one.

Nothing wrong with the off-side Law. People should try reading Laws of the Game to understand it.

Personally, I don't don't agree with sin bins.

Pete,

The problem is that not everything is applied. Encroachment and kicking the ball away happens on nearly every free kick and nothing ever gets done about it. There is hardly any quick free kicks because of encroachment and often referees do not allow it.

When one of our players gets injured in a foul and has to leave the pitch how does that give us an advantage, it gives us none because we are a man down.

The late flags causes a lot of dissent from players and the crowd, the flags are so late players are making tackles before off side is given.

I have read the laws of the game and that doesn't mean I have to agree with them.
