Good to see you again Bom ... I thought we played really well tonight and more than matched Leatherhead, great result - Sutton or Godalming at home in the next round

Review of the Sandhurst game:

Sandhurst Town 3 Abingdon Town 6 - Berks/Bucks Senior Trophy 3 - Admission £6 including 16 Page programme - Not quite the 10 goal spectacular of the last game v Staines but another goal fest nonetheless smile.gif

The visitors took an early lead when a cross was knocked on for the Abingdon forward to score with a crisp volley under the keeper. On the Half Hour Abingdon doubled their lead when the Abingdon player latched onto a loose ball and ran on to fire over the Sandhurst keeper from the edge of the Penalty area. Five minutes later Sandhurst pulled a goal back when a long throw was flicked over the keeper with a glancing header. Any chance Sandhurst had of a comeback was shattered as Abingdon managed a further brace before Half Time. The First came when the Sandhurst player lost the ball in his own half allowing the Abingdon player a free run at goal. Then a through ball found the Home defence wanting again as the Abingdon player went through One on One with the keeper who made a fine block but the Abingdon player followed up to shoot into an empty net. Not a lot happened for the first 25 minutes of the Second Half but then Sandhurst switched to Three at the back in a desperate effort to get back into the game but were badly exposed twice in Five minutes. First came when the Abingdon forward robbed a hesitant defender and went through to beat the keeper. Then a 1/2 on the right opened up the Sandhurst defence and again left the keeper exposed to make it 1-6. Ten minutes from time saw the home side pull a goal back when a cross was headed on and converted at the far post. Two minutes later a Sandhurst corner was flicked on and converted from 6 yards. Sandhurst then smashed a shot against the bar when it looked easier to score and that was it. Nineteen goals in Two home games certainly gives you value for money at The Fizzers cool.gif

Final Score : Cove 3-6 HV

... nipped down for this one - thought about watching the 'Fizzers' but had seen them and Ab Town in earlier rounds of the B&B so stuck with a local league game.

Some cracking goals and pretty abject defending from both sides - poor lad in Cove's goal had a complete 'mare - is he the regular KP cos he seemed to try and 'kick' everything clear, or use his legs to block rather than those things on the ends of his arms?

Thought Cove looked really good going forward on both flanks but in the end had the spirit throttled out of them by a ruthless Villa side - think the game was actually 'won' in midfield where Cove continually lost it moving forwards, whereas HV in the 2nd half waited for inevitable openings.

Think Villa's 6th was the pick of the night - fast break - cross from deep and first time volley back across a helpless KP who'd started to come for the cross - although Cove's third early in the 2nd half was very neat to make it 3-3 and threaten a much closer result than we ended up with.
