Siobhan Donaghy

Recommended Posts

Well, Mr Thorns may be content to drool over 40-year old male has-beens at small venues across the country, but last night I found myself in the company of a lovely 19-year old female who is currently having Top 20 hit singles!!

After an excellent gig, I had quite a chat with Miss Donaghy after the show, she signed a CD for me and I even got to use the line, "I'm Paul, by the way"!!

Heavenly Social sounded good, Thornsy. I'm definitely up for that one next month. Mrs Zeal reckoned she saw Alistair from Fame Academy in there. Did you see him??

The music was well good while I was in there. Northside and Real People songs, alongside an obscure early Charlatans album track. Priceless!!

Just got the album, Revolution In Me, at lunchtime, and it's quality! This is a review from Amazon. It could've been written by me!!...

I just got this album two and half hours ago and I have already listened to it twice. It is genuinely a brilliant debut album by Siobhan Donaghy, it's very mature both lyrically and vocally.

The 'feel' of the album is similar to 'One Touch' by the Sugababes (which is also fantastic, but this is hardly suprising since Cameron McVey was a big influence on both) and that is something I was glad of because I think it's a very refreshing sound.

Siobhan's music is not my usual cup of tea, I generally prefer rock music but what appeals to me about her style is her originality. It's something I can't quite put my finger on, but Siobhan is different to everything else out there and if you haven't heard this album I strongly recommend you do.

The stand out tracks on this album, aside from the two great singles 'Twist of Fate' and 'Overrated' are 'Nothing But Song,' 'Dialect' and 'Iodine.' But needless to say, they're all really good.

I've been a fan of Siobhan since she was in the Sugababes and I've been waiting for some solo material for what seems like forever, and what I've heard today is certainly not a disappointment.

A quality listen. I told you all about The Darkness - now trust me on this one!!

You may want to check out this band called Coldplay, quite a few people think they are going to be massive!

I actually found my Reading 99 program the other day CZ, 1st band on the 2nd stage on the Friday - Coldplay, followed by Toploader (although they both deserve to stau there). In the new bands tend - Muse!

Yes and could potentially split the band up! Have you heard all the stories about them not getting on? I've always got the feeling that Heidi wasn't really as into the music as the other two.

I mean Sugarbabes and Atomic Kitten are two totally different bands. Sugarbabes make credible music that spans the genres and even gets played on Xfm. Atomic Kitten on the other hand make commercial pop music aimed at teenie-boppers. Plus, when Heidi joined Sugarbabes already had success whereas Atomic Kitten hadn't really taken off yet. I reckon, and I could be wrong, that she saw the Sugarbabes as some sort of platform to success. Whenever you see her at awards ceremonies or in interviews she always gives the impression of being a soloist rather than part of a group, if you get what I mean.

I know where you're coming from Thornsy, but the fact is, the other two are properly into the music as Chubbhead says, and they're not just some girl-band where all the members are interchangeable with Atomic Kitten or whatever. They're something special.

I know Siobhan Donaghy has spoken out about the other two and I'm aware of the problems between them and Heidi too. Which is another reason I think the Sugababes should've continued with just Keisha and Mutya (yes, that's their names!!)

I like the Sugababes cos they're authentic and dirty and street-wise, and they just look daft with Heidi, the blonde dolly-bird by their side.
