Geoff O'Vell Joins Broxbourne Borough

Recommended Posts

I see that Geoff O'Vell has joined Broxbourne Borough as Manager, naming Paul Surridge as his trusted Assistant:

Geoff has been at Brox for a couple of seasons now I think? Just gone from assistant to Manager.

NeutralFan - Thanks for clarifying that as the article wasn't clear, if that's the case it's strange O'Vell didn't replace Ashley Fisk a long time ago

Why? What's he achieved as a manager then? (I only know recent history from Hoddy onwards)

NeutralFan - Shouldn't you be asking that question about Ashley Fisk

You said Geoff should've taken over from Ashley ages ago... I was wondering on what basis you made that comment?

Not at all, if you don't answer properly I'll just stop approving any posts until you do!

Looks like BBFC have again failed to bring in a suitable replacement for Mr Faulkner, I know Mr Faulkner may have not won too many (if any) trophies while at BBFC but it was a good place to go and watch attractive football with players from the area, the place has a strange feeling about it these days.

I see that the news of Geoff O'Vell's appointment at Goffs Lane is covered in the Broxbourne Mercury but with an interesting twist in the tail. The article highlights the fact that Ashley Fisk has been unceremoniously sent off twice for dissent this season and with the Hertfordshire FA looking into his poor conduct Club Chairman Peter Harris felt that a lengthy suspension could be on the horizon hence his appointment of O'Vell who has been instructed, in no uncertain terms, to clean up the Club's act on the field of play:

The same thing happened when he was at Cuffley & I also know that when a few people I know also commented on Potters Bar Assistant Manager when he was there. Basically he's a bit of a big mouthed to$$er !
