Molesey v Camberley

I've been asked to respond to the post made by VPCTFC on Saturday following the above game.

True, no complaints I imagine with the scoreline which, had the Cambo keeper not pulled off two quality saves late in the game could have been 6-0.

Also, I reckon all the bookings handed out during the game were deserved and no real complaints about that. I do have a frustration about the handling by the referee of some situations but, as I said, the bookings were valid.

I was aware of a pretty vocal Cambo supporter on the far side of the pitch, but only after the game did I realise that some of the language was pretty vile and has no place in the game. Krooner is right that we reserve the right to be vigilant and remove such people but without stewards and with most people tending to turn a blind eye this did not happen. I certainly have no idea exactly who it was and to be fair it is something I have never experienced from the supporters of Camberley before.

We also have a couple of vocal supporters dug out side and they do enjoy banter with the opposition. Sometimes they are given ammunition and Saturday was no exception. During the first half a match ball was returned and got placed in the away dug out. As the referee will always expect the home side to ensure there are balls available for keeping the game flowing, we asked our 18 year old striker to bring it back from his warm up but Darren decided that he would now pick the ball up, stick it under his arm and refuse to give it back. Our lad was bemused and was told to come back and our physio went to get it. We then had the ridiculous sight of a manager in his 40's (?) and a physio in his 60's having a tugging match over a ball! I actually asked Darren not to do this as it was plain daft, but it happened. Later in the game the match ball went into their dugout and he again refused to give it to our full back for the throw, eventually throwing it at him. Not criminal offences for sure but unfortunately the banter was all about him being a big time charlie, and this theme was continued as the afternoon progressed. And, I'm not talking behind his back, as when we shook hands I again said that he should not have done that as it really was embarrassing. One thing I know the people near us were not doing was swearing, but there was certainly banter.

The matter of getting players sent off was an incident in the first half when something happened between our no.9 and their no.2, when their lad was left holding his face. I certainly saw nothing and I know the assistant of Cambo - Neil - didn't either. I think the reason for this was that the ball broke to us and we were making tracks on their goal, so I was more aggrieved that our no.9 had committed a silly foul. After loads of shouting and brief discussion with his assistant, the referee booked our 9, so all hell broke loose for a short while. At half time we noticed Neil make tracks towards the referee and complain about that particular decision, as the scoreline at the time was 1-0. and the 9 proceeded to score 2 goals prior to half time. Unfortunately, supporters will only be aware of what they saw and it would clearly appear to them that the opposition were intent on him being sent off and probably reacted accordingly. In fairness, I went into the referee with Neil at half time and he was making a valid point about the decision having to be either do nothing or show a red, which is why I know that neither of us saw what happened. It does appear that it could possibly have been a red, having spoken to a couple of my lads who saw the incident, but there were a couple of dreadful lunges towards the end of the game that we felt merited a straight red but the referee dished out yellow to the Cambo player, but these things happen .

So, just some observations from me which are genuinely honest and I will leave that side of it there.

Just one big gripe with VPCTFC is the comment about debt and the inference that he now has little sympathy with Molesey. We are a very welcoming club and do things right on and off the pitch. The people there work as hard as any in the league and we treat all opposition and visiting officials with the utmost respect. Unfortunately there are inherited debts that the club have to deal with and are having to carry that burden. The club is now run in a proper manner and they will ultimately get the other issues sorted. Most people will be aware from recent events of the effort the club is making, so this is certainly no secret. They certainly have no intention of pulling the plug, shafting the debtors and returning as a new entity called MFC 2013, or whatever. Your comments on this subject are uncalled for and lack respect.

The rest is your opinion of one particular afternoon which, agree or not, you are entitled to.

Bit of a lengthy post, which I apologise for, but once you get on a roll, eh!

I wouldn't take much notice of my rants. I say things, they're out there, end of story and move on as far as I'm concerned but thanks for taking the time to give us your thoughts.

You may well deem my comments "uncalled for and lacking respect". I'm an old punk. Lack of respect is what punks do best. I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone online but I find it comes naturally.

I have no wish to see any football club fold, not even Farnborough so I hope it all works out for you lot in the end. One tip - put the prices up in your bar. £2.30 is far too cheap for a pint these days.

I thought I would wait for VP to answer before adding mine. I have bolded the most interesting line to me and would say to that, as was the Tweet but as you and the tweeter rightly say everyone is entitled to their opinion so dont give yours if others upset you ?

I have one disagreement with VP and that is about Farnborough ;)

VP I would have thought that a clubs intention is to keep their customers at their club as long as possible for obvious reasons ? Now if one charges more and become expensive, those customers probably wouldn't stay hence less revenue..... sometimes cheap is good, and greedy is stupid !

On a respective thread, I have said on record in the past, that Molesey's food (T Bar) is good quality and not that expensive either........
