South Kilburn

Recommended Posts

With regard to South Kilburn, Whitelaw has made the current position perfectly clear in his post earlier.

It might be a good idea to let things lay for the moment, and see how it goes.

Thanks Alan.

Well I've finally seen South Kilburn in action and I'm sorry to say that they did live up to their reputation. Most of their players were okay although one (a Michael Essien lookalike at right back) spent the whole game in a rage!

He was angry at his fellow defenders, the ref (he accused him of swearing at him), the opposition and his strikers - he yelled the length of the pitch after a wayward shot "what's that stink?!"

As for the manager, well he did all the things he's been accused of and more. I've never seen such an embarrassing display of childish taunting and pathetic macho posturing at a game as I did at the end of Saturdays match. They may not want to comment but I know the Hartley Wintney lot were stunned by it all as well.

I felt a bit sorry for most of the SK team as having to play at such a rubbish ground for such a manager can't be much fun.

Oddly I saw in one of the recent CCL bulletins that SK were listed as having the highest referee mark - bit confused about what that mark means?,?!?

Lol they were on their best behaviour when we played them away ! no problems whatsoever !

They had a bit of a swear and an argument after the match but nothing major.

Bomaya,

what was the game like?

Was travelling back from a snowboarding hol. Had the Chairman texting me stuff so I could tweet everything.

Normally a report would go on our site so I can catch up with stuff but nothing so far.

At 0-0 HT I thought it was going to be a repeat of our Home game.

Thoughts?

First half was a bit of a stalemate. For some reason they chose to play into the wind so you were doing most of the attacking but conditions made it less than pretty to watch.

Second half you won a penalty (correct decision) very early on and then followed that up with another goal a minute later. This pretty much sucked all the heart out of SK and they then spent the rest of the half moaning and fouling. You started playing some better football then and got a third halfway through the 2nd period. Comfortable victory by the end.

Apparently they are travelling the day before to Guernsey so they can sample the Guernsey nightlife.....

That rumour re Guernsey not wanting to play SK cannot be true. In recent years Guernsey have played Rhodes and Turkey, and trust me, SK's behaviour is and will not be a patch on those two teams! For anyone who is interested search details of Rhodes' behaviour vs Guernsey in the 2003 Island Games and vs Jersey in the 2011 Island Games

Indeed I read all about the Rhodes' womens team and what they did and was startled to say the least!!

Nothing wrong with the VERY FEW Ladies referees we have.

From personal experience, generally far better than male refs !!

I'm afraid the feisty greek "gentlemen" did not see it that way, she was a top FA ref too, it got very ugly by all accounts. I was working for the BBC Island Games station at the time and we were doing a live radio broadcast but did not have any cameras at the game. I was at our control centre at the leisure centre and we had a live radio feed into the theatre, as things hotted up at the Corbet field everyone gravitated into the theatre from all around the other sports to listen....We sent the TV guy off with a camera but the game had been abandoned by then. Our commentator had feared for his safety for a while.

they did not learn from this though....
