South Kilburn

Thank you for that whitelaw. An helpful and hopeful explanation. I hope that everything can go smoothly then!

I am aware that they were a club who voted against Guernsey being in the CCL so I hope they are not still bearing any grudge about that.

I can understand apprehension before the season start but I hope nobody has any regrets now because we have,so far, had a wonderful time.

Interesting Maisiecat, why do you think they would 'still' bear a grudge?

Maybe you could also enlighten those of us not in the know who else voted against Guernsey's entry into the League?

I think you may have been a victim of a wind up maisiecat.

South Kilburn were elected this season the same as yourselves so they wouldn't at that time have been a member club and therefore would surely not have a vote, unless...............because of the unique situation with your inclusion they were allowed to vote.............que Whitelaw !!!

South Kilburn were not elected into the League. They were directed to us by the Football Association after expressing a desire to transfer from the Hellenic League. Without going back over the order of the AGM, I believe they were accepted prior to Guernsey being elected and thus would have had a vote.

The voting slips did not have club names on them and the League has no official idea as to who voted which way. What was clear was that there was a large majority in favour of Guernsey coming in.

Well one of their guys most certainly told one of our officials what they thought and it was not positive.

Anyway, we were accepted and we were very grateful and we are loving it. I hope we have won over most people with our hospitality.

From article dated 21st June: "Guernsey Football Club will play in England's Combined Counties League from next season.

The move was approved at the League's AGM, with the vote going 29-7 in the island's favour."

Everyone was entitled to a No vote if they wished, however, once the die is cast you have to move on and get on with it! I am sure most clubs would not have any regrets now. They play against crowds of over 1000 at Footes Lane and the fear that our away games would bring no money in their gates have been crushed beyond belief with our fans and with groundhoppers swelling their crowds.

Damn, I took the bait and this has gone off topic again!! :greengirl:
