Always terrible when I relatively big club goes bust. Always fans who get in the neck too. If it happened to Woking i'd be devastated. Feel so sorry fot all Darlo fans.

Three times in 10 years if f**king negligence though.

That's why football stinks, and always will do when money is involved.

Scrap teh football creditors rule and live within your means.

Spectator:

Many thanks for bringing this article onto the Forum.

What a fantastic post by this 'Darlo' fan, any football fan of any club can fully empathize with his thoughts if you care about your own club and football in general.

I sincerely hope there is a successful resolution to Darlington's plight, sadly, many clubs are in similar circumstances and are desperately in need of financial support from wherever they can get it.

What is apparent within this situation is just how important geniune fans are to the clubs they support and just how important it is for fans to keep supporting their own clubs, irrespective of the circumstances.

Yet it is the supporters that suffer, as well as the town, when a football club dies. Should Darlo go under, and the Conference are a hell of a lot stricter than others, the likes of Aldershot, Newport County and, to a lesser extent Halifax and Chester have shown, there is life lower down the ladder. But it would look nothing short of surreal to see at 25,000 capacity stadium down at Step 5!

What always makes me Laugh in situations like these is the F.A. are never knocked by these Clubs, reason being the clever cookies they are, they get their money upfront. Now if a player gets Fined and does not pay them,he is BANNED SINE DIE,which stops him from ever playing Football again till the debt is paid. They should adapt this strategy with any Clubs that cannot manage their Finances, the Clubs that suffer are the ones, who budget within their means.Because as history shows, the defaulters do not learn from their mistakes. Why does everyone feel sorry for the Supporters? They at least lived the Dream for a while, many Clubs have never lived the dream, but soldier on regardless.

Its not the supporters' fault that clubs go belly up. Its like a religion who you support. You choose your team for whatever reason and stick with them through thick and thin. They pay their money at the turnstiles, tea bar, club shop but the directors of the club mis-manage the finances and it goes wrong.

I almost had to choose a new team when it went wrong at QPR, but they survived and now in a healthy state (until Fernandez gets bored).

A tricky one. Do you genuinely feel for Leeds fans when their club nearly went t*ts up. I didnt because they were happy to revel in the glory it brought them and were happy to shove it in peoples faces despite the obvious fact they were spending well beyond their means. If chelsea went pop how many people on here would shed a tear for their fans ?

that post though does genuinely make you feel sorry for him and the others whose club have never really seen any success. Hope it works out for them.

Well with some clubs there are the real fans who have been around since they were poor and rubbish.

Fair point, but I don't think Darlo are in the same category as Chelsea, Leeds, and Pompey.

I'm realistic with QPR, all is well and good at the moment, and I probably would revel in any success it may bring, but I know it could all go wrong if the owner gets bored.

That Darlington post is one of the best ever. I have sympathy with their fans. Unlike some clubs they don't owe anything to HMRC, the only debts they've got are to players and ex-managers so I hope they sort themselves out. It'll be a tremendous atmosphere at Barrow tomorrow with fans from loads of clubs across the country going up there to support Darlington.

If the worst comes to the worst then they'll form a new team at step 6 for next season which is the way it should be. None of this 'drop two levels and wipe out all your debts but basically remain the same club nonsense' like Windsor, Farnborough, Halifax, Chester etc.

The whole of the non-league world is united around clubs who simply run out of money. Tax dodgers are a different story though.
