potentially brilliant development especially if it could result in more players being available for the 1st team not sure if thats how it would work i assume it would. next best thing to a reserve team

lets hope it gets a lot of interest and turns out to be a highly successful scheme

Reading the blurb, it does say academy players have the chance to progress into the Reserve and then the First team.

oh right RR thats awesome. the gap between youth and senior is huge so if the gap can be bridged could be massive for the club as a whole.

heres hoping this is advertised as much as possible at schools, youth centres, in newspapers, online, to kids playing grassroots football already. this could be a dream opportunity for many young people as long as the chance is made known

fail to see a bad thing about this for Slough Town FC.

To be honest Slough (the town) has created some brilliant players, i have 3 friends, one plays for fulham reserves, the other players for chelsea youth and the final one is only 14 and plays for QPR youth. There is also another friend who is Ruben, went to my school and a year younger than me, he use to play at QPR but now i believe he's at our under 18's team. we do create some amazing players, didn't we have a player called mo something who went to QPR like a few seasons ago. this could be so peotential.

One question, how many non league teams actually have 13 youth teams, a under 18's team and a academy? surely can't be that many? we have certainly got a brilliant development scheme here at Slough. hopefully it will some stars rise into the first team.

This is fantastic news and could potentially benefit the club no end!

Any news on the Stadium? If this starts next season, hopefully we would have a reserve team in place for some of the older academy players in 2013-2014 season! This would hopefully prevent them being snapped up by other clubs!

Also, if players sign up for the academy, does this mean they are contracted to the club? Hopefully so, that way we would potentially receive a fee should any higher echelon clubs coming sniffing around them!

Another fantastic development, Steve and the rest of the management committee really are doing great things for the club and the town.

Hopefully this will have a knock on effect of generating greater support too, at the moment looking round the ground I feel we have a missing generation of supporters and we will need to continue to work hard to get them coming to games. Of course, that will be much easier once we get back to the Borough.

Steve has been the architect of this scheme and deserves all the praise ! to actually get this off the ground ... The management committee has been kept fully aware of the scheme and benefits that this will bring to our club !

Its another huge step forward and takes our club to another level ! Our Town will have a club to be proud of and I hope that in a few year time a few stars will be produced and maybe we could become self sufficient and ensure our club become one of those in this country that can indeed stand on its own 2 feet at a level of football we can all afford and support.

Up the Rebels

Thank you Steve.

It's fantastic news and well done to those involved with setting this up. I have passed on the information to my brother who has some connections to young people in Slough through his job.

All we need now to complete the team lineup is a reserve team then! Hopefully this will go some way to achieving that so that we do not lose all these talented young players. If we can sort out contracts for young players I assume we could only let them move to other clubs for a fee which would benefit not just us but the other clubs in the area too by providing a local pool of talent?

No one who supports Slough Town FC will fail to appreciate the significance of having a soccer academy of our own. This can only benefit and strengthen ties with the community/people of Slough. It also gives much needed credence to the younger generations, that the club is in existence and so can enhance the reputation of Slough Town FC, as a whole, which is sorely needed, if the club is to survive well into the future.

While, youth teams and football academies are huge steps in the right direction. It still, is not, positive news on our dreams of a new stadium and until building works commence, I can't help feeling that there seems to be an underlying problem with the aforementioned new stadium. 2012 is upon us, and I remember reading in the long distant past. that it was hoped,at one time, that this year[2012] we would be watching our beloved team in our own ground but this still seems a pipedream!

So can anyone shed any light on where we are with a perspective new ground?

3spirit: I am sure an announcement will be made in due course. You may have to be patient for a while longer.

Be assured The Chairman is working hard to acheive this ... its no mean feat to get things right ... and only when things

are right ..we will all know ...

Thanks WR and Chris for your response.I have absolute faith in Steve Easterbrook and our management committee and Trust members.

What I don't have trust in, is politicians and councils especially as we've been let down before.Of course,I stay hopeful that people who have given their word, keep it but with these so called difficult financial times, worthy projects are getting put on the backburner everyday and words don't mean much.

So until the first brick is laid.............?
