Some Justice at last.

Gary Dobson and David Norris found guilty of murdering Stephen Lawrence:-

I wonder whether the other three original suspects will now be pursued for perverting the course of justice since they originally all supported each other?

Cue Rhodes disagreeing

What with? Whether they all supported each other or disagreeing that I asked a question?

Nothing would surprise me.

Did the judge criticise the prosecutions evidence that the chain of DNA material was complete and that contamination was implausible missunderstood?

Not necessarily criticise, but he did ask them to consider the possibility of contamination of the forensic evidence, and mentioned that the scientific evidence found in the 2007 review was of no value. He also told the jury that sympathy for the Lawrence family, or anger at the nature of the attack had no part to play in the jury reaching a verdict. He also said that if the jury believed Dobson and Norris had only intended to harm SL they could consider a manslaughter verdict.

After reading the summing up in full I honestly thought the two thugs would leave court as free men. Thankfully I was wrong and justice for the Lawrence family has been achieved at last.

In a way that is reassuring because although you say that, it means that the Judge did not appear biased against Norris and Dobson. The Jury was left with the decision, after all if the judge feels that the evidence is incorrect and thoroughly unreliable he can acquit without the case ever reaching the Jury imo.

That leaves the defence team looking for grounds for appeal and they must prove either new evidence exists or that there is cause within the original trial (this latest) and they cannot appeal a Jury's decision.

There really can't be many people who have any doubts that the original five were guilty as sin, proving it was all it should have taken.

Loose,

These morons are scum - no doubt but one thing has bugged me about this for a while, and it not the allegedly contaminated evidence.

Apparently the original 5 were bugged by the Met for a 6 month period sometime after the incident. For all that time i dont think any one of them mentioned or alluded to the case in a way that would incriminate them.

If they were Guilty (and i am not for one second suggesting they weren't), wouldnt they have mentioned it and talked about it and dropped themselves in it? I dont think they are clever enough to keep schtum and are so arrogant they would probably have felt a need to gloat in some way.

The Doog, we all know the Mets reputation for incompetence, what if the five knew they'd been bugged? Who knows? There can only be speculation but whilst these scum may not have been clever I always felt there was a certain animal cunning about them along with the "pack mentality"

One thing seems incontrovertible - the evidence of a blood splatter on one of theirs coats that had no other way of getting there and likewise the hair from Stephen Lawrence on the others jeans if they weren't present.

Loosely - Do we know for sure that Stephen Lawrence's killing was racially motivated, is there concrete proof.

Rhodesy - Where have I said that the killing was racially motivated? Why do I need concrete proof?

Boy you get more stupid every day.

Loosely - I thought Stephen Lawrence was in the wrong place at the wrong time similar to Damilola Taylor and many other cases of senseless murder on the mean streets of London

I thought

Well good for you then. It's nice how you like to try and re-write history.

However...

Witnesses to the murder said he was attacked by a gang of white youths chanting racist slogans. Were you there, do you know different?

Loosely – Well that’s certainly news to me and you know what witnesses can be like, some are, shall we say, economical with the truth or distort it to suit themselves particularly if they have their own sinister agenda and are the only witness so nobody can contradict them.

But were you there Rhodesy, do you know different? How do you know they have a sinister agenda and why is Stephen Lawrences death not sinister?

It seems you only have guesswork and no answers to why you guess all this. I wonder why.

Morning Diz, there's no show without punch they say. Do you disagree with anything I've said, with anything Rhodes has said?

for the record I didn't once see yourself mention racism and maybe rather than reading the threads certain members are more interested in one upmanship.

Our dear Rhodes does serve a very good purpose and it makes fantastic reading on the arduous commute to work. Certainly more so than the grim stories in the news.

Regardless of who is right or wrong it seems it's an unwritten law that yourself and Rhodes will disagree.

With regards to this thread I am glad that there has been some form of closure for the Lawrence family. I was in my teens when this tragic event happened. Hopefully now others may be brought to justice also.
