End of Season Prediction

It looks as if it will be a great second half to the season. Support at St Neots and Slough is on the up and as others have stated, we won't have it all our own way if Bedworth and Sycob can help it. My thoughts are that apart from Bedworth and glimpses of good football from a handful of other teams, St Neots play the most attractive football. Slough most definitely have the best defence, statistics bear this out. Also comments about MoM from your sites regularly include opinions from fans that your back five, particularly NBH and your keeper win you games with good performances. We really missed both our most skilful player (Junior) and (Sear) who some of your players will know from their Burnham days, when we played you, I hope they

are both fit and available, for the game at ours. I don't expect we will win all our outstanding games, but I doubt we will get beaten easily, as our form is really good at the moment. We are learning to compete in this league, which is competitive and combative, we have made a very shrewd signing in Ben Mackey, who is strong and has scored goals at Step 2/3. Hes a right handful! Last term, Kings Lynn chased us, with games in hand and ultimately fell just short. What ultimately handed us the title, was our league fixture at Kings Lynn which we won 4-2. So I reckon if things are still quite tight come mid March, you coming to us, coup be massive to both clubs. I hope you bring loads up to St Neots, I reckon it could easily top a 1000. It's all exciting isn't it?

Stressful ???? What Stress ?

Yes we both want to go up , but I'm sure we will both get in the play offs!

We had pressure last year as we needed to get out of the UCL and there was a few sleepless nights ,but this year is very different,Dont get me wrong,We would love to get back to back promotions nothing would be sweeter. But Stress ?Never

Us St Neots supporters are still over -the -moon to be in this league.

1st playoff we made final but against expectations and having got superb wins at Romulus was it to get 5th and Hitchin we just didnt have anything left that early goal at Chesham and goal on half time killed us. saying that i still feel we deserved better than 4-0 loss

2nd playoff i still think had Hitchin not got that debatable penalty we would have been in the final but what is done is done.

to me that means 3rd time lucky and its got to be our time now. this league is just not where we want to be at all anymore. fair play i can understand why St Neots fans are happy to just be here having only just come up. us slough fans must remember only a reprieve saved us a few years ago from going down again so 3 promotion hunts in a row is superb turnaround lets crown it off and finally get back to Ryman/Southern premier

It also didn't help that our keeper threw them the ball and gave away another goal straight after half-time!

There's a long way to go and lots of points to play for even before we meet St Neots in March. It certainly isn't only between us two.

I dont think it is just between St Neots / Slough .not by a mile .however i do feel that we both wil at least make the play offs.

Also I think this may be the most competitive this league has been for a while. Normally there are one or two whipping boys at the bottom of the table who get cut adrift and regularly thrashed and then teams who give up the ghost partway through like Atherstone and Rothwell. So far though it all seems a lot closer and teams are capable of upsetting anyone on their day.

St Neots seem to be massively building up this game against Bedworth (and why not) but ultimately I doubt the result of that will decide the league title or rule one team out of it. It is interesting though that the games in hand are actually hoping to be played in the coming weeks they have an away game against Uxbridge soon which could also prove critical.

Exciting to be involved though and we just need to maintain this momentum and defensive solidity and if we hit a blip we have to keep the faith and support the team through it.

1. Slough

2. St Neots

3. Bedworth

4. Northwood

5. SYCOB

Agree with most people in saying that this is the tightest and most exciting this league has been ! No whipping boys or teams running away with it etc.

Agree with Gooner, happy to be at step 4. Step 3 is a reality though, playoffs would be brilliant for us.

Bedworth is a big game, they beat us in a real tight game, which could of gone either way. I think it's crucial we don't get beaten by them again. If I was a betting man though, I'd stake it will be St Neots or Slough that win it.

No predictions but I'd be pretty disappointed not to be promoted! Step 4 is not somewhere I want to be watching my football and with a town the size of Slough we should be (with our own ground in Slough) playing in Conference South. We logically fit into that level, however, we've still got to earn 2 promotions, so it shows how far we've fallen in the past 2 decades (and we could have fallen further if we didn't get a reprieve 3 seasons ago).

Whether we have the potential to push into the realms of full time football thereafter only time will tell. It's hard to imagine that we vied with Wycombe at the top of Conference National in our last season at that level in 1998. Our paths since have gone in opposite directions. Many of us older supporters saw some great times back then!!

Fair play to St. Newts a decent club with decent supporters and of a similar ilk to Bury (St. Edmunds), Chesham and Hitchin all of whom have shown us a clean pair of heals when gaining promotion in the past 2 years. I hope St. Newts go up but not at our expense!

Bernie very true. Except Wycombe left for the Football League in our first spell in the Conference they went up in 1993 we finished fifth and then got relegated the next season time. Second time round I think Halifax won the league in our final season when we finished 8th and were then demoted.

If memory serves me correct, we knocked Halifax out of the Trophy the year they won the Conference!

Until we get a new ground,it's unfeasible to contemplate playing higher levels of football but I do think we could sustain playing one step higher, given the support we get ie Southern Premier/Ryman Premier, and our excellent chairman and board/Trust.

I personally am not bothered about Slough ever being a League team/professional outfit but would love to see again ,one day, those heady Conference games,as that standard was a joy to watch and top semi -professional is just as exciting as the lower professinal leagues, anyway.

Now whatever happened to Brian McDermott and Dave Kemp?
