New Lodger

200,you been reading our dodgy match reports again ?

Will give you new lodger though, you can have him back though.Saying that,it seems he would rather watch little old Hornchurch instead of Big Old Ricay.

Don't flatter yourself troll. Work commitments meant I couldn't make the Bury game. Hornchurch, Poor route one team, awful pitch, athletics stadium, no atmosphere, burnt burger but a good result for us and a contentment knowing I follow a better team playing in a better stadium at a better club.

I note you didn't disagree with any of the points in my original report.

Oh come on Kimble, this bloke is completely sane.Couldn't you just tell by his comments about us being a poor route one side.It must be terrible for us having to give our ballboys towels to aid our long through ins to our two giant centre halves, still we probably get a good deal with the towels from Dunelm mill

A great contingent of Lowestoft fans made the game and the team were greeted by  a better pitch than last year but it was still very bobbly and sticky.

Unfortunately for Lowestoft after a great run of form and results, they were brought down to earth with a bump today, as Hornchurch delivered an accomplished performance to dispatch Lowestoft 3-0. It was a game that is best forgotten for Lowestoft and seen as a bad day at the office, with the focus now needing to be on our next game away to Horsham on Saturday.

Lowestoft started the game well enough and were straight into them from the off, with some good pressure on the ball and given their players no time to settle.

Frew was put in early on by Crane but with Crane having been fouled the ref pulled play back instead of rightfully playing the advantage; much to Lowestoft's frustration.

Lowestoft very nearly capped their early pressure with a goal, as a Guentchev corner was headed down into the box by Gaughran and Cockrill flicked the ball up and produced an overhead kick, which was cleared off the line; so close to going in.

Frew at this stage was already looking busy in the right channel, as in previous games and he was giving the number 4 (Styles) a run around. Hornchurch were trying to knock the ball around in midfield  but Lowestoft, Cockrill and Fisk were working very hard in there.

Yet again for successive games, Cockrill was caught by a leading arm and sent to the deck with a bloody face. However yet again the officials took no action and it was starting to look like the officials were going to have a bad day also.

The game went through a period of being a little aerial and as a result Lowestoft lost some of the earlier momentum as Hornchurch started to get into the game. Hornchurch were now finding space and putting their moves together and with the number 9 finding himself in the box he got on the end of a ball but his header went well wide.

Hornchurch then had a great chance, as after a foul not being given in midfield the number 10 (Smith) found himself clean in on goal but Reynolds produced a super early save, getting down well to keep his goal intact.

The pitch was now starting to cut up and becoming very sticky in places but that was the least of Lowestoft's worries, as Hornchurch were now fully finding their feet and pushing Lowestoft on to the back foot. Hornchurch were however playing a high line, which meant there were possible opportunities to exploit this over the top or down the channels for Lowestoft.

Hornchurch then took the lead and after some pressure it had been coming. The number 10 (Smith) was put in on the left and while turning Gaughran he was brought down, with no arguments when the ref pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped their number 9  and leading scorer Tuohy to slot the ball away well to put Hornchurch ahead 1-0 (28 mins).

The number 10 (Smith) was causing the most problems at this point, as he was dropping off to get balls and knock passes off and was then spinning back in and causing Gaughran no end of problems. This was the first time in a while that Gaughran had looked under so much pressure at the back and Hornchurch were buzzing.

The number 10 (Smith) was then involved again, as he slide in the number 3 left back (Anderson) and his ball across the touchline was put behind by Smith, as Lowestoft were in need of a breather.

Lowestoft were now under some serious pressure and they were allowing Hornchurch too much time on the ball now and leaving too many gaps, with the game passing Fisk and Cockrill by.

A brief bit of relief came for Lowestoft as Forshaw spun on the edge of the area but his shot was right at the keeper (Woolley).

Lowestoft ended the half with some better football and were trying to push Hornchurch back, like they had at the start of the game but the Hornchurch back line were looking very solid under the leadership of Styles.

Both Henderson and Frew were working very hard down the left but if Lowestoft were going to turn the game around they needed to start winning the second balls, which as of yet were all being won by Hornchurch.

The second half took a little time to settle, with the ball bobbling around like a pinball at times and Lowestoft made an early change in bringing on Francis for Forshaw (52 mins). This was clearly a move for Lowestoft to put some quick and fresh legs on this heavy pitch, to try and expose the Hornchurch defence.

Lowestoft to their credit were still digging deep and trying but it was looking like one of those days and Hornchurch were looking so solid and in control at the back.

This was proving to be a very tough game for Lowestoft and even though Hornchurch were now playing some good football, the Lowestoft lads were having some spells of pressing football themselves and were not giving up this fight.

Unfortunately for Lowestoft they then had the wind taken right out of their sails, as they allowed the number 3 (Anderson) to run in towards the box and with Lowestoft not clearing their lines the number 10 (Smith) sent a shot past Reynolds, after taking a slight deflection, to send Hornchurch 2-0 up (63 mins).

Nolan replaced Guentchev on 64 minutes, as Lowestoft tried to find something to spark them into life. A corner found Gaughran and his head across goal found Crane but he could only get his knee on it and it was starting to look like Lowestoft would never score today.

The number 15 (Thompson) replaced the number 11 (Black) for Hornchurch (68 mins).

Lowestoft were applying a bit more pressure than they had in the first half but were just not creating the attempts required on goal and were still not winning the second balls.

The game was then well and truly put to bed by Hornchurch, as the number 3 (Anderson) found himself in acres of space again but this time outside of the area, as he had time to place his shot beyond Reynolds for 3-0 (76 mins).

Ainsley replaced Fisk after 77 minutes but the game was done and Hornchurch were now knocking the ball around like a team which were already winners.

A late tackle by Ainsley got him a booking and summed up a bad day for Lowestoft as the game came to a close.

You couldn't really argue with the result in this game and it's best looked upon as one of those days and simply put behind us. The team have had a brilliant run in the league and are still in a great position and I'm sure we will see them bounce back even stronger for it against Horsham on Saturday.

It was a bobbly and sticky pitch but Hornchurch did impress me more than they did last year. They were strong and focused at the back and were led really well by Styles. At times in midfield their passing and movement was leaving Lowestoft chasing shadows and the number 10 was superb in my opinion for them. As for Lowestoft, it's very tricky to find a man of the match when summarising the game. Reynolds made a great save early on but for me Frew was out best player and even though him and others didn't create anything special in front of goal, he did work his socks off all game and tried very hard to manufacture something for his team.

Let's look forward to Saturday now!
