The Hornchurch Crowd Mystery?

Recommended Posts

Firstly, we must congratulate our friends down the road for their excellent result today, which keeps things tight at the top.

However, I notice that the Ryman League gives the gate as 450. Surely this must be a mistake, as I would have thought, with the Trawlerboys away support, it should have been closer to 1450.

No, 450 can't be right as the Hornchurch match report on the Billericay game said they brought 500 with them.

500 away at Billericay and then 450 at home to the league favourites - no there must be a mistake somewhere. Perhaps Eastside Urchin could clear things up for us.?

Goodness me, are you still bitter over losing to us?

Still a long way to go in the season for all of us.

No bitterness, we didn't play well enough on the day and you put in a good away performance.( and an even better one against the Trawlerboys)

Still haven't explained how an away support of 500, shrank to 450 total gate for a very big home game. I only posted this because some seemed more interested in debating the gate rather than the game last week. There is no doubt there were a lot of neutrals at the Billericay game and not at all surprised at the Harrow gate, as their away support would not have filled a mini bus.

This is not a wind up, but having mustered 500 (allegedly) to pop across to Billericay, 450, including Lowestoft away support must have been disappointing, bearing in mind the significance of the game

Good luck at Grimsby !!!

You should be more worried about your own side tbh.

To have 1100 plus at one game and then down to a little over 400 the next should be of concern to your club, especially as you are top of the league,it could be called somewhat careless to lose such a big amount of people,is there a triangle effect around Billericay between Christmas and new year where people systematically disappear en masse? Now either people didn't like what they saw,or there actually was a few hundred Hornchurch fans (maybe not 500 but a good 2-300)in attendance. Now I don't believe anyone has come on here banding the figure 500 around but wouldn't be surprised if that was the figure put on the official match report,if so then once again you have falling for his wind up with regards to bumping up the away crowd figures.tut tut

Ok apologies for believing what I read on the official AFC Horncurch site - I promise I wont do it again Sir.

Not at all worried about our crowds in comparison to others. No delusions of granduer here, if anything I was a bit grumpy I didn't get my usual spot when your hordes came visiting. As I implied previously, moving the game to the 27th was a masterstroke and I would imagine ( although I have little evidence) that many of the neutrals were from other clubs and therefore they would have no interest in returning, even if they had seen a classico
