A bit of a shame re: the 3G pitch-apart from its main raiseond'etre of serving the community- an excellent training facility for MFC when not in use by locals-shame. That at a time when there is a strong revival of the suitability of 3G pitches for mainstream football-and even the possibility that clubs with 3G pitches could play FA cup ties on them in the next 2 years (i appreciate the 3G pitch as planned was not the main pitch-but i make the point of the all year value of 3G pitches to the community-and increasingly supported by councils threoughout the country-excepting here-damn shame.

Is the small amount-if any-space taken up that critical compared to the gain to the community.

That given-and i don't know-but i suspect it is the lighting issue of more concern-is there some sort of low energy/diffused/low level lighting system available-there is always a way !!

Another complete farce. This was to approve the LEASES. Planning permission HAD been granted already, so why has the 3G pitch been shelved? Does anybody on that council know anything about what is going on in with this application. Another cop-out from the people who are supposed to make decisions.

I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of an official statement from the club. A lot of people, including myself, who live away from the area, waited up very late to try and get some information.

yes good point thought the meeting WAS about the leases as all the planning permission had already gone through

But had'nt it already been made clear that it would be going to full council (because of change in council )so the best that could have been expected was a 'recommendation'.

Mega frustrating that it is to us all -is'nt it the case that we had previously been advised that they were purely up for 'discussion' last night-not accept/reject ?

Be fair to MFC-everyone is part time-not a full time PR machine.

i am sure the club will put out a carefully worded and considered statement in the very near future-but it will need digestion/discussion/agreement by all parities including the developement partners i am sure.

You hardly want the club to 'do a liverpool' when it comes to statements surely ?

Overall-it looks like it 'inched closer' to me.

It seems planning permission without the agreed upon lease's means nothing. So,giving consent when it was given was purely to shut us up for that time being whilst at the same the council are seen to be the good guys by consenting.

Different leadership now & I quote Mr Hart from last night when he said they are "100% behind the club but the full sized pitch was one step to far".

So anyway, with that said & now without the full sized pitch, opposition must be nil as the opposers to this were in the vast majority only against this pitch being put there.

You may ask then " why did we not offer to scrap this Pitch a lot sooner"?

I personally thought it was a major part of the development & that without it being there we wouldn't get the development off the ground. Seems it wasn't as important as I thought then.Or was it?

There could well be something in the not too distant future that may rectify this but that will not be sought for a while yet. Time now to get permission, get building & to let the dust settle before that comes alive.

Oh, the opposition party clearly stated to the labour people that a decision should be made last night, for them not to duck the issue & not be left to others to decide so yes a decision could have come about last night, but with the long 125 year lease not quite acceptable to the labour councillors I can see why they didnt make their decision on the night.

Overall-it looks like it 'inched closer' to me. Yes, most definately another step forward Michael. Without a shadow of a doubt! ,albeit & despite it being at a cost (all weather pitch)

Having the 3g pitch thrown out is a great shame as this was the only real community part of the proposed project. Unless you include paying to watch margate, pay to play for the youth teams or pay to use the hotel, within we are doing it for the community bracket.

However positive the meeting is it just seems that the council are dragging there feet. Obviously don't want the project to go ahead and are finding a way of stopping it.

Why are we taking any notice of what Moores says, remember he is the opossition these days and has never been a fan of the development.

I can assue you this will be included in the Extraordinary Meeting on the 19th Jan and has already been included in the up coming agenda.

As above the 2 things that are not recommended are the 3g pitch and extension to car park. If the club have any common sense they will accept what they get and re-apply for the rest in a year or two when things have settled down.

I'm sure your absolutely right Faithfull Blue & in no way am I saying that won't be the case but can you point me to the agenda for the19th as it isn't showing on the TDC website as yet.

I presume you either have inside info on this or that you actually work for the council to know that for sure.Would be appreciated, just for my self satisfaction thats all.

No need for the patronism. It was simple request. Thank you.

People are worried that we are looking to take over the park bit by bit. A 3G pitch now...what else in a few years' time? This always seemed like the likely compromise.

yes guess (some) people are worried having a nice 3G pitch that people young and old can enjoy within the community...guess the dog walkers would have less space for their dogs to exercise i:e crap over, the chavs less space to do what they do etc etc etc. In my mind it's a no brainer so how the hell can they so no to that,it just don't make any sense. If it was gona be a night club or lap dancing club I could understand that to a degree.....

Well, it appears from the official club statement that everything is ok, and will be completed on 19 Jan. Thats great news. It was nice to hear that the council had the decency to meet with them prior to the meeting as well, which they should be congratulated on.

One thing that still puzzles me however. If TDC announced several months ago that they were going to build a brand new 3G pitch or tennis courts in the park next to the sports centre, to improve sporting facilities for the local youth, would there have been any objections from local people. I would expect that most people would praise them for their vision and investment in the future. Also does the deadline of Friday for the appeal of the 3G pitch mean that if they lower the fencing or carry out other amendments, it may go through.

For future application on 3G pitch would recommend a pensioner (person with time on their hands) should stake out the proposed area for 7 days and note everyone human/beast that actually uses the proposed area, might make interesting reading.

I was at the meeting last note with Christian, and must say all that came across yet again were Tories V Labour sniping at one another, this I feel goes on & on & on at every issue raised re Thanet. Does the benefit of Thanet really every get top billing. We all know with Turner (be it right or wrong), Dreamland and a brand new Stadium can only be good for all in Thanet not just Margate. (I will also be hoping Ramsgate can open their tunnels)

After the meeting I was really down, especially as I kept thinking to myself we should have had the lease issues dealt with ages ago, and I was thinking to myself just don't build the damn 3G pitch yet, get the rest built and deal with this later.

Thankfully Keith Piper after the meeting spoke to us all there, and put a smile back on my face, confirming my thoughts on the 3G pitch, and his positive view on the outcome.

I think when we finally get things going I might just treat him to a nice bottle of wine. (Well if you can get a good one for £1.99)?

Let's be honest, as supporters of the club if MFC proposed building a nuclear power plant on Hartsdown Park we'd all be screaming that the council give us permission. We have got the lion's share of what we were looking for and the council seem open to some kind of compromise on the 3G. Realistically, we could not have expected much more.

I'd say turn one side of the 5 a sides into one larger pitch. Yes it wouldn't be as big as a normal pitch but it would create a much larger area to train on and would be quite popular I suspect. Have removable walls where the seperation walls are now and you've got one large pitch that can be split into 4 smaller ones when required.

As for the rest of the development, the signs are good I suppose. Fingers crossed for the Full council meeting. I have been told that Iris Johnson said that the football club saga has been going on for too long, I for one couldn't agree more!!!
