TDC Thursday night mentions

I think you'll find the car park may have been shortened since Council's visit but that is down to confirmation. If we get the long lease 124 yrs (the most important one) then surely the Car park would be only a minor matter to overcome.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Have been told & has been confirmed by my friend at the council that the public ARE INDEED allowed into this meeting tomorrow. (Thursday night).

The more the merrier was mentioned & I hope the the turn out is far superior to the previous turn-out..

Please if you can, make a BIG effort. 7pm Council offices. 6.45pm-7pm

6.30 if you can make it would be even better,so that we can welcome the cabinet (in a civilised way) into the council offices).

This is one victory that we really, really do need!

If what Simon Moores has posted is correct then once again an elected council have put all barriers in the way of progress. Lets string it out a little longer in the hope that the developer pulls out and this problem (as the council see it) goes away. I am sick to death of our local authorities putting every barrier in the way that they can think of. It is these elected persons that are the reason that nothing ever gets done around Thanet except when something that makes them look good and benefits their reputations like the Turner Centre. Back to full council then what? Some other council meeting another couple of weeks later!

as I understood it, deffered to full council with recomendations on certain areas sounding favourable ie the extention to leases on the existing pitch and 5 a sides but not for the 3G pitch as the fences and floodlighting was considered too much intrusion into the open space. The car park may need refining.Compromise may yet be the way forward Nothing has been granted but its not dead yet so lets wait till the next meeting before going off on one....dear Uncle I'm talking to you!!!!!

That seems to reflect similar to what orange coat suggested,so seems to me about a 6/7 out of 10on what was hoped for.

As you say-nothing passes outright/nothing rejected outsright but simply a steer to full council-and i think it was previously repoted that it would always be the most that would come out of this meeting and it would always have to go to full council. (when is the next full council meeting ?)

Anyway-i'm sure the club will give an official view in the next 24 hours.

Sorry, couldn't get my bit in earlier as my computer was otherwise engaged.Besides I was rather hoping the club would have rushed an official statement out before I got on here as they put things over much better than I ever could.

It is as Frankies niece says as I was at the same meeting. It was also clearly stated by the leader of the council that the recommendations would go to council on the 19th January. Having looked up the calender of meetings there is no such meeting on that day only a "budget extraordinary council meeting". Maybe they will include this in that meeting or maybe he got it wrong but I can assure you he most definately said 19th January. (Next official advertised full council is in February)

As you say Michael the club will get an official statement out soon I'm sure.

Recommendations to full council on 19th January was clearly stated.

Iris Johnston said that it HAD to go to full council for a decision (correct procedure I think she said), though I do wonder why the Pieremont issue was rejected on the night (99 year lease was rejected for a community centre) & not left to full council. Perhaps refusals can be made immediately with Cabinet but decisions to the contrary cannot.

Recommendations for all 24 year leases have been forwarded & the longer lease too but that part is up for further negotiation rather than passed in full.

I presume that will be done between now & the next full council meeting (council & Margate FC),where councillors will decide, presumably by a show of hands on all the recommendations.

This must be a bit like the judge in a court directing the jury into making a certain decision but at the end of the day handing over full responsibility for making that decision to the jury.

It is a bit of a cop out I think by those on the cabinet. Leaving the decision to others to make but if Mrs Johnston is correct about procedure then so be it & I am being unfair to them in this instance.

Whatever happens I am 99% convinced that at the next meeting we WILL have a final answer at last. I just hope that it is a favourable one.

The full sized pitch has been knocked back. Full stop!. Finito! That will not happen. I presume that means that there is little,if infact any parkland being taken now by the development. Probably some but hardly any. Need to check the drawings.

On leaving the offices I asked KP what, out of 10 would he class as positive coming out of the meeting & he replied (to others also) a fat 9 out of 10.

KP seems happy with the outcome, short of a positive decision & when he gets around to getting that official statement out I think you will all feel rather happier than you might be feeling right now, having had rather contradictory reports on the events.

This is STILL on & I am fully expecting a final, once & for all, either way decision to be made at the next full council meeting,if indeed as was mentioned it being the 19th of this month.

We just have to believe & hope that "recommendations" carry weight, as the ball is now in the councillors court with us hoping the majority vote, with those recommendations to appove all leases, including the longer one, whatever that may be, having had negotiations on that between the council & the club in the next couple of weeks. A lease of less than 125 years for instance.

Overall it wasn't what we wanted but overall it seemed a very positive night. However we don't have full blessing just yet.The full council will vote & decide once & for all.

I don't envisage any more delays, whatsoever after this next meeting, whatever the decision.

Mr Moores mentions on his blog that this is into extra-time & may well be settled on penalties.

For once I agree with him. It is & it may well be!

By the way a very big thank you to all those that turned up tonight.

We might have one last chance at this & we really do need to improve on tonights attendance next time though.

It may well be our last chance to impress, possibly persuade councillors to vote on our behalf as well as showing our support for the club on this.

ONE LAST CHANCE so lets not waste it. Get off those backsides, make a "special" effort & attend the next meeting PLEASE!!!

There WILL NOT be another chance to do so!!
