Epsom Athletic apply to join CCL

There are some definite applications for next season but I have to advise the Management Committee (and club secretaries) properly in the first instance, which will be at Monday's Management Meeting. I will give further info asap.

 

In the meantime Chris Conlon, our Vice Chairman, and myself will be travelling to Burton Albion FC this Sunday for a national meeting of Step 5 leagues when we will hear the FA's proposals as to how they intend to reduce 14 leagues to 12. Again, I will publish whatever information I can on here next week, once clubs and Management colleagues have been advised.

Football is a small world and theres a lot of old heads around here that know the scene inside out. Considering all these clubs he's played for and Ryman clubs hes managed isnt it odd that no one knows who he is?

my only gripe with EA gaining promotion is quite simply the ground sharing rules (which the CCL have blind sided a few times down the years!!)

Unless the rules have changed in the last three seasons they quite clearly state that a club cannot ground share in order to gain promotion and also that if you are ground sharing you must prove that you are planning to eventually upgrade your own ground and move back to your own area. Agreed Chessington is only down the road from Epsom but where are they going to aquire or develop a ground ?

I can see another 'blind eye' being turned by the league in their efforts to get it totally floodlit, and SOD the rules !!!!!!!!!!

Not quite right Spy - Clubs cannot arrange a ground share in order to achieve promotion or avoid relegation - if they are already in an approved arrangement at the start of the season then all should be fine - I assume EA were in this arrangement at the start of this season?

 

As an example, Frimley Green arranged a late groundshare deal with Farnborough Town in order to avoid relegation due to ground grading - it was too late. Had they started the season in such an arrangement all would have been fine.

I may be wrong, and perhaps an EA official monitors the site and can tell us, but I believe any agreement has to be in place by the AGM of the league the previous season and I was led to believe that wasn't the situation in this case, only heard that, not proved. Don't get me wrong, if they've shown the ambition to progress and done it within the timescales then good luck to them..............I just wonder ??
