Epsom Athletic apply to join CCL

VPCTFC

Recommended Posts

Announced on their website a week and a half ago.

They share with Chessington & Hook so no problems with grading and they're ten points clear in the league.

I don't know if Whitelaw is at liberty to let us know if there have been any other applicants.

Yep. December 31st was the deadline.

This email from the FA is copied from the North West Counties website:- http://www.nwcfl.com...7-To-Step-6.htm

Clubs wishing to be considered for promotion from Step 7 must advise the appropriate Step 6 league of their interest by 31 December 2011. They should also advise their current league at the same time.

In order to be promoted, clubs must finish in ‘top’ position in their Step 7 league. If the club finishing in top position does not wish to be promoted or fails to meet the entry criteria, then the club finishing in 2nd position will be eligible for promotion. If the club in 2nd position does not seek promotion or fails to meet the entry criteria, then clubs down to 5th position may be considered for promotion, provided that they meet the appropriate entry criteria. This was agreed by the Leagues Committee at a recent meeting and will be incorporated into the Regulations.

Clubs finishing below 5th position will not be considered for promotion and ONLY ONE club will be considered from each league.

In order to be considered for promotion clubs must be in possession of Ground Grading Category H by 31 March 2012.

Step 7 leagues are requested to notify their member clubs of these arrangements as soon as possible. We will require Steps 5/6 leagues to provide us with a list of those clubs that have applied by 13 January 2012. Any clubs not listed WILL NOT BE considered for promotion.

More reason for Chessington to have games postponed? We have had Staines Town, Feltham, Wokingham & Embrook and Englefield Green as tenants and in all cases we have looked, in cases of bad weather, to our own needs and interests, which is what I suspect happened today with E & E's game called off at Merstham. The landlords will always put their own club first. There really should be an end to this piggybacking of clubs to get accepted into this league.

Are you saying that the Ref who inspected the pitch today and declared it unplayable did so because he had his arm bent by Merstham? Surely that sort of thing can never happen? ;)

The referee that inspected the pitch today made his own decision that it was unplayable.

I would agree that landlords do not always make the same efforts to make the pitch playable that they would if it was their own home match .... obviously I am not saying that was the case here! ;)

I won't bother to honour NICE GUY with a response as I only do intelligent conversations and he hasn't got the tools to deal with it.

Today's game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. It was our first postponement of the season, and I really can't see why it makes any other difference to anybody else. I had to be up very early this morning as I might have had to print a programme. Merstham have been very good to us during our time there. Anyone who actually knows me will know that if I felt there was anything odd going on, I would have said so as I did with our Cove postponement last year, which was debated fully on here in November 2010. The rest of you will have to trust me on this.

I would remind people on this site that we had to sell our ground because of financial difficulties back in the late eighties. We are still paying for that. Maybe this is why I have a problem when teams lump us in with those other teams seen to be "piggybacking" at other grounds. I don't agree with it personally, although it is a choice that each team in that situation has to make and is no one's business but their own.

If I were one of the people who get to vote on things like Epsom Athletic's acceptance, the ONLY thing I would be concerned about is whether Chessington's pitch is up to it. I have mentioned previously about all these ground gradings we have to abide by, only for no apparent interest to be taken in the green bit in the middle.

We are lucky this year weather-wise. Normally all of April is taken up with Chessington home games due to the postponements. When will Epsom Athletic be able to play theirs?

Same here E & E Ed.

Shitty snidey comments aren't necessary, especially from people who do [****!!****] all to help out at clubs!

Epsom Athletic have been using Chessington's pitch all season with their reserves playing on the back pitch. I don't think they've had a postponement yet so I can't see that being an issue. It's no more an issue than Bookham sharing at Dorking.

Athletic lost their first league game of the season today away to Battersea Ironsides but they're still ten points clear at the top.

My whole point Russ was that this is a freak season. The weather has been great compared to recent seasons.

With a bit more rain in Oct / Nov 2012 the venue could be unplayable for three months and that makes it difficult enough when one team is there, let alone another team aspiring for Senior Status. If it was just their Reserves it wouldn't be such an issue.

Thanks for your comments Chris. Why can't the moderators do something about this idiot?

To be fair he is quite knowledgable about many CCL things and I wouldn't want anyone excluded from here for having opinions.

Some comments are designed, I am sure, to wind people up and that is fine up to a point.

I love banter!

Postponements cause frustration for everyone at a club as I am sure everyone is aware.

Silly, childish comments and sly and unsubtle digs serve no purpose or use to anyone.

Absolutely lashing down here in West Sutton and the roof at Epsom racecourse has just blown off I hear.

Fingers crossed for Cove on saturday; we are desperate to play a game!

CC I help out clubs by spending my hard earned money which goes towards paying clubs (your clubs) bills just like all others do, you ungrateful............ !!! Remind me when your next game is on ...lol !

So you two, are you saying that games have/are not ''conveniently - wink, wink'' called off 'cos the home team are struggling player-wise (ie) not having their best team availqabnle or simply can't get a team out ? Think carefully 'cos I beg to differ and all I ask for is honesty ! ...or perhaps there is a flu bug going around !

And for you Ed I'm far more intelligent than producing a programme............lol !!!

Behave Ed if moderators want to get rid of me so be it, but I shall return as NICE GUYS BROTHER ..........ha ha !!!
