But a few of their more rowdy element were drinking outside the Plough prior to kick-off.

I was in the plough before KO and if that was a rowdy element, I'm a chinaman !

Wayne I was standing close to the pool table in the Plough before kick off and there was a group of about fifteen lads standing just outside the entrance who were clearly their 'boys'.
When we left they made comments such as 'Is this all you have got at home,'Where's your firm' as well as an invitation to swap mobile numbers with them!
You may not have seen these, but as far as I can se they would have been fairly obvious to any 'travelled football lads' who and why they were there. - Yes this thing really does go on in the Conferance

Maybe I worded my first posting wrongly, what I should have said is that I understand the police levels for their supporters, but why didn't they concentrate their attentions to the away following instead of closely monitoring GNFC fans?

The majority of Aldershot's fans are fine. I walked down the hill with a group of about 15 of them who had just got off the train. They were good as gold.

However, after the game a few years back, where Lee Spiller was punched by their then psycho - sorry physio - I was threatened & abused in the car park & behind the main stand because I was part of the group which prevented the guy being sneaked out & was spotted calling the Bill on my mobile. They do have a very unpleasant element & I'm sure the majority of their supporters hold them in just as much contempt as we do. Anyone who talks of "firms" is an inadequate pillock beyond all comprehension.

I work in a secondary school in south East London & we get plagued periodically by local yobs waiting outside the gates. We too use filming & photo taking to deter them - but there, just as with the poor residents of the areas I cited in my earlier post - if we try to call the police we get nowhere. One time we had a group, who had earlier threatened the road crossing man with a knife, waiting to beat up one of our lads, whom I had locked in a room inside. When I rang the police I was told it wasn't an emergency until they entered the buliding & attacked someone. They contacted the local Bill, two of whom rolled up an hour later in a Metro, long after the boy's mum & I had smuggled him out via another exit.

I think the presence last Tuesday, though more necessary if it had been a Saturday, probably was welcome, but why can't such very effective swoops be co-ordinated for more "run of the mill" situations where people's quality of life is regularly & inexcusably ruined?

These were probably the same lads that whispered to me and a couple of mates 'c'mon we're Aldershot' as we passed the front entrance as we made our way from the back bar of the Plough to the ground.

As I said before, although they were provocative, any travelled footie fan, could see they were about as firm as our defence proved to be at the game. Lets not blow it out of proportion.

yes it does go on at this level, but we are so low down the richter scale we get left alone. Long may it continue !

This is becoming an interesting topic..... Two pages and nobody slagging anyone off yet!

If you were to read the Aldershot site, they were quite vitriolic about the fact that I had said that "some" of their supporters gave cause for concern. I think I can rest easy in my bed as regards the accuracy of that statement after reading the last comment from King Carlos.

As for the videoing of the G&NFC supporters? I still don't have a clue although I will make a few enquiries during the week.

Its worth noting that during our promotion year, we did have an small element that caused problems at a few away games. There was a particularly nasty racist incident in a shop near the St Albans ground for example. I believe that the culprits were identified and dealt with. However it is an unfortunate fact of life that there is no such thing as a totally safe environment when it comes to football in this Country at the moment and we all have to be on our guard to stop bad behaviour as we have a great and well deserved reputation to keep up.

One last point, I never intended to upset the vast majority of Aldershot fans who now have a good footballing team that is worthy of their excellent support and I can only agree with everyone else who hopes they achieve the success they deserve. BUT I can assure you that that place really is a sh**Hole!

In fairness to Aldershot with such a large following they're bound to attract a few idiots, regarding our own 'fans' there was an unpleasant incident at the end of the Dover FA trophy game last season when a few idiots who I'd never seen before decided to abuse some of the Dover players who just laughed at them making them look the muppets that they were, unfortunatly it seems most clubs have a few of them.
