New Year Honours List

Recommended Posts

Well Alan, Rhodes question was with regard to his obsession about whether or not I have letters after my name but since you ask I'll give you some details, maybe Rhodes will benefit from some facts.

Quite a few previous friends became involved when James and Sally asked us if we would like to help fund the club, participate in decisions relevant and so on and so on. Some of us had met previously through being involved in MyFC which to my mind has successfully funded Ebbsfleet since around 2007 and although it's had it's issues and evolved as they've gone along is still running, and some of us brought in other friends who were interested. Our intention was largely to apply the MyFC idea on a much smaller scale.

Unfortunately shortly after the project got under way James became seriously and terminally ill and we were short really for people on the ground (at games etc) to do the work of a more normal club committee which was always an issue. Support was fantastic from the membership with several generously seeing their way to provide whatever was necessary. I think you always find that some people will put their hands in their pockets and help out when needed, however with the death towards the end of the first season of James I'm afraid we lost a bit of heart in the project. Sadly it had a big effect on Sally and myself since James and his wife were close friends of ours. Although we felt responsible to the rest of the members we ideally could have done with some practical help with James' absence and with members all over the country and indeed the world it just wasn't possible. Anyone thinking of starting something like this up from scratch needs to think this through which probably we didn't foresee. Since Sally had to relocate because of her job during mid-season of the second year we all came to an agreement to fold. No blame really, money all given back but in some case refused so local charities benefitted a bit.

Thank you for a very honest response. I always thought the myfc model to be a sound one, although I also felt that once the initial euphoria had subsided after a year or so retaining a sustainable membership could prove problematic.

Do you think you will ever put consider running another football club, or has the experience put you off forever.

Missunderstood - I hope you don't mind if I answer for Loosely as I know exactly how his mind works, he won't touch another Club with a barge pole as he had his fingers well and truly burned with Southill Alexander

In that case you can answer on his behalf a response to your totally boring question about him having letters after his name. Then you can do us all a favour and bring this boring post to an end.

No Alan, we all got our fingers well and truly burned. I'm afraid the project was a total loss and we've decided to leave it to the professionals.

Fifteen of us decided that we liked one idea of sponsoring youth and school teams in South Africa, we don't get to make any decisions, they just tell us what they need and we try and send it to them. The group has over time grown to 42 people and we now sponsor and help raise funding for 16 teams in South Africa and Zimbabwe. We won't risk getting our fingers burnt again.

Yes to be fair it was heartfelt and Loosely almost had me going for a moment, it’s an interesting turn of tack to suddenly start playing on members heart strings which shows how clever he is

Loose answered a question honestly and graciously, can we now expect you to do the same?. Do agree that Loose comes across as a very clever man.

Shame how all these threads turn out exactly the same (and I include myself guilty for letting it happen). Someone makes a post, there is a bit of discussion about the subject then invariably it gets sidetracked/hijacked onto an exchange between rhodes and the rest of the world in which he disagrees with everyone else despite huge amounts of evidence to the contrary and refuses to accept anything that any of 'his opponents' (probably not the best choice of word) post preferring instead to use 'his sources' however vague they are. Things will then go quiet for a period of between a week and six years until rhodes obviously bored at the internet cafe one evening will resurrect the post with some 'startling' new revalation. During this time though he will have blatantly ignored all questions directed at him (did you ever eat that hat by the way), rest his case on a number of occassions but still pick it up again frequently because he desperate craves the attention and noteriety this board brings him.

LATO – I think we have discussed this before, I just post ‘socially’ and for enjoyment purposes as we are all non league football enthusiasts at the end of the day aren’t we, there’s no ulterior motive or hidden agenda as you seem to think

Olympians to get their own Honours List.

David Cameron has decided to place awards arising from the 2012 Games outside of the usual system.

Fair idea, but nobody should be knighted while still active at top level.

Yep

I'd call him Sir when he's quit, but not now

I really don't see why it matters if sports men or women are honoured whilst they are still active at top level or not, what difference does it make

Due to Patient/ Psychiatrist confidentiality i am not allowed to divulge that Mr Rhoades was my patient so i will merely call him Patient X. After numerous formal and informal psychiatric tests i can now reveal my diagnostic evaluation. Patient X suffers from a disorder called ' Confabulation' In laymens terms patient X suffers from 'Honest Lying''
