Are Guernseys wheels about to fall off?

That is correct, hes resigned from the "national" team but remains fully committted to the GFC team. Not a masive surprise, was always a lot to ask someone to do both jobs. Lack of support over selection issue has soured things a little with the Guernsey Football Association.

I'm very much a fan of Guernsey being in this league but will having a bad relationship with the Guernsey FA make things harder for you in the long run?

Possibly, but they have setup a working party between GFC, GFA and the local League to try and sort through the issues. All clubs and the GFA voted for GFC so its a bit late now to moan. I believe that a lot of people involved in the other clubs never thought GFC would be so successful and probably thought they would fall flat on their arses.

If the worst comes to the worst could Guernsey affiliate with one of the UK County FA's? Has this ever been done before?

Sounds like the GFA are a stuffy old bunch! If they looked at it positivley, they would have a very fit and well gelled Island squad. If they carry on they might not even have one!

Every player of a good standard would love to represent there country/Island. Especailly as i hear there is a huge rivallary between Guernsey and Jersey. But if the GFA are being negative and playing for guernsey FC is obviously such a positive expirence for these players, it will surely only take a few to retire from the natioanal side and it all goes a bit pear shaped?

All seemsa bit silly to me

Not as far as I know, but I cant see how this would be able to happen as the GFA are responsible for all football with the island, as governed by the FA. I dont think the GFA would be as silly as to put the future of GFC in the balance. All parties need to try and work together which the working party are working towards.

HKP whats the difference in teams ?

Guernsey FC have the pick of the Island for players which in theory should be the same team as the national team surely ?

Are there any Guernsey full time players ?

there aren't but given that players that have played professionaly in the past can't play in the Guernsey muratti team the sides are slightly different with Zico Black and Tardiff (anyone else?) not allowed to play.

They're not treated as the same team and so there is no reason not to have 2 different coaches.

Also the conflict when Guernsey play the muratti semi final and GFC play on the same day wouldn't have helped his position.

Guernsey FC's wheels are certainly not due to fall off, exactly the opposite is the likely outcome, they will only go from strength to strength.

The Green Lions success is very much based on teamwork, both on and off the pitch and arguably they are probably the best players, coaches and administrators that Guernsey football has to offer. They all served the Guernsey FA admirably, culminating in a hugely successful winning of a national cup last season and representing England in Europe at that level.

The Guernsey FA's loss of such personnel is surely their loss and very much Guernsey FC's gain but it is extremely disappointing that a compromise could not have been reached as I am sure that all very much want Guernsey football to move forward together, at all levels.

Ask any young footballer in Guernsey what they want to achieve in the future and they will tell you it is to play for Guernsey FC and represent their Island in the yearly Muratti.

The only way they will achieve that dream is through an agreeable pathway of GFA/Guernsey FC football.

There are no restrictions on muratti eligibility, other than having to reside in the Island for a year (I think?) in order to be eligible, and now to have played for a member club, other than GFC, in a local compeition at some stage during the season.Tardif/Zico Black are eligible.

Apparently, there is a private charter flight out of Gatwick to Guernsey tomorrow.

My secret-squirrell spy at Gatwick tells me the plane was chartered from an address in Mole Valley !

1) The GFC and GFA teams are totally independant of each other. The players are basically the same but GFC is a club that has been setup with the approval of the GFA (our local County Association) with support of the FA in London. Mark Le Tissier the Footnall Secretary of GFC used to be the County Secretary for the GFA.

2) Yes the players are basically the same, except when playing in the FA National cup thingy when ex. pro players cant play. To qualify for the Muratti against Alderney/Jersey players just have to be resident in the island for a set period of time, 12 months I seem to recall. They also need to have played in a County level match, so this does NOT include GFC matches, this is where the argument between the players and the GFA arose. This is a FA rule not a GFA one.

3) No players are full time or paid, despite rumours on here!

Zico and Tardif can play in the Muratti, its only the FA National Cup they cant play in as ex. pro..

My shiny badger told me they sent a self build micro-lite kit and a £5.00 fuel voucher. I just don't know who to believe.
