Credit where Credit is due

My fist game at New Lodge was the boxing day match V Chelmsf@rd a few years back. Which had a pretty big turn out of fans from both teams.

The same fixture this year (albeit a day later) was i had assumed going to be just as exciting but with only 150 urchin supporters and a scrappy let's cancel each other out type of game it was never going to be even close to the excitement of a few years ago.

At full time i was a bit annoyed for a short while until i thought hey here we are just having lost and we are still top of the league (and have been for a while now)

All credit to the management and the squad for what they have achieved thus far, With the rotten bad luck we have had at the start of the season and then poor Nicky Morgan, A lesser club would have caved in and dropped down the league after coming under such a bad run of misfortune but thanks to a steady hand Craig & Co have done a marvellous job.

Best of luck to the squad and fellow Blues supporters for 2012. Let's get behind the lad's.

There wasn't thousands of us but I think 150 is a slight under estimate. What infuriates some of our fans is that we don't all stand together, secnod half it was obvious that while we had a good 100 plus behind the goal there were also plenty to both sides, many of our families chose not to stand behind the goal, this became evident after the final whistle when many walked round.Saying that,I would estimate around 200-220 made the trip, about 80% of our average home crowd so far this season unfortunatly

To be honest,we played Ricay in our first league game back in the ryman 4 years ago at the bridge, crowd was similar in size with 200 plus from Ricay but since then you have failed to bring down anything near to the numbers we did Tuesday and we have also had a poor turnout in recent years at New Lodge.

Nope, the fact of the matter is our cameraman was right next to you when you scored. The cameraman was about 200 yards from the main area where our fans were Tuesday.

If you seriously think you had over 950 in the ground compared to our paltry 150 then I would suggest you are all even more deluded than the Lewes manager who called us a poor side after we beat them 4-0 at the dripping pan a few weeks back.

It probably felt like 200 yards,he certainly wasn't anywhere near where the main bank of supporters were situated.Anyone who thinks we had less than 200 there should book an appointment at the local specsavers,if there isn't one in Billericay, there's certainly one in good old Romford, although most of their geriatric fans could do with visiting their at some point.

Oh dear, Oh Dear - just checked in and the silly debate is still going on.

How about we leave it like this: Billericay had by far their biggest gate for a league match for many a year. Such was the relative league positions of the two teams, I would imagine there was a far bigger turnout of home and away fans than would normally be the case. Because the game was played on a public holiday, with few other games locally, I would imagine there was a far bigger turnout of neutrals than would normally be the case.

The actual proportion will never be proved and personally I couldn't give a **** ! As non league supporters lets just rejoice in a four figure gate and hope that we can repeat it in the Spring. And by the way, points, games played, goal difference and league position at the top are all irrelevant with 5 months still to go - watch out for the Rozzers !!!
