Target man on the way?

I agree but it seems that SB isn't a big fan of players whose raw pace is their main attribute. Mo and Buchanan were very pacy (although both had lots of skill to boot) but neither got settled runs in the team in one positon. Mo was tried all over the place and was in and out of the team and Buchanan was either used left wing, striker or sub! Then you had Sealey who looked good up until he dislocated his shoulder but was regularly criticsed for his lack of defensive awareness. This season Mpi never really had a chance.

It seems without Murphy we are lackiing on this front. Any idea when he will be fit?

I ,too, thought we got rid of Tyrone Sealey and Yash Romeo at the wrong time, especially when they were forming a very good understanding. However,I could understand Steve Bateman's reasoning on Yash,in the fact that he said he was being paid a lot at the time and due to this he needed to get rid of him to balance the books.

Just a pity Tommy Hayes was Yash's replacement! lol!

IMO Elliot Buchanan was an instinctive striker, who should never have been played on the left wing.He was too good for that.

These matters are all water under the bridge now and we have improved our squad under Steve Bateman's reign, especially in defence, although I don't believe St Neots,Bedworth or Beaconsfield or any of the top sides currently, are any better than teams like Bury Town,Arlesey,Chesham,Hitchin or Rugby Town of previous seasons.Which may appear a contradiction in terms.

As much as I like the Slough squad currently, I still think we could do with 1 or 2 more attack minded players to try and win this league outright and not have to endure the play-off system. A pacy midfielder and a target man would be the way I would strengthen. I think Steve Bateman knows he still needs another dimension to what he already has, thus the failed 7-day approaches for Glenn Garner,Harry Pritchard,Charlie Strutton and if true,Lewis Driver.

I'm sure all of us-fans,would have been exceedingly happy if any of these players had joined us.
