O/T Sunday league

A good Slough contingent there today.

Unsurprisingly Windsor looked like a decent enough side that could hold their own a level or two above. Solid in defence and lively on the attack. Egham didn't really have much to offer and scored with their only real attempt on target. Was quite impressed with their #8 but thats about all.

Nice to see Windsor have attempted to tidy up their ground and you can see a lot of hard work has gone into bits and pieces like the signage around the ground. I was most impressed with their pitch though, admittely it doesn't have as many teams playing on it as Holloways Park but it looked in fantastic condition - even where the linesman have been running.

Thanks for the kind words guys, and pleased you enjoyed the day. And Marcus there genuinely were 806 people in the ground! Tom, always nice for the committee's hard work to be recognised a huge amount of work gets put in behind the scenes often not noticed. The guys do a great job. We are very lucky with our pitch, but only because we have an awesome team working on it Ian Gould, Lewis and George put so much work into it, we could not be luckier to have those guys. We don't have the games that you guys have playing on it what with two first teams, however we do have the youth team games and also Windsor Boys school teams play occassional games there as well so it's definitely not just the first team games. Thanks again and all the best for the rest of the season. Happy new year to everyone at Slough.

Thx geggy was a nice day out and agree with Tom the ground and pitch are looking so much better! In my opinion wfc have a very good team and would do well in our league... They would batter sycob! Ps anyone know a good psychiatrist who specialises in football fans being molested by mascots?

Brighton_Rebel absolutely. I would definitely recommend other clubs trying it. I don't know what the exact figures were but I would say we had three or four times the average matchday revenue yesterday without any gate receipts, and by making a really nice and fun experience for people, and of course the result helped!, it will hopefully encourage a number of them to come again.

Is a great idea, could we try it on Easter Monday against Beaconsfield or is it too much of a risk to our club? I would expect at least 1000 to turn up if we did, no disrespect to Windsor FC but we do have a bigger following and would attract more people especially if we were about to win the league!!!

Exactly WR is right, we would make absolutely nothing. In fact we would lose money as we would still have to pay for rent etc.

Saying that though it is a good idea and something to be considered when we do eventually get our own ground.

Aidan and I ventured over as well and it was a good turn out, think it helped that the weather wasnt to bad either. Only got abused by their gate man who wasnt going to let me in when he saw my coat with the Slough Badge!! Will let him off though as he was really nice.
