Beaconsfield v Slough Town

Swifty's red card came for supposedly kicking out during a bit of a scuffle. If the referee chose to award Swift a red I'm not sure how only one SYCOB player escaped with a yellow. It just meant that Sean dropped deeper and covered the left but I never fel;t like we were likely to concede. The penalty for SYCOB was correct from the opposite end. It looked like James caught him but then stayed big and saved with his legs. Not a great penalty but you still have to save them.

SYCOB looked dangerous on probably three occasions in the first half but never really threatened. They hit the bar twice in the second half but with speculative efforts rather than clear chances. I agree with Marcus - had Swifty stayed on we would have scored more. We did the right thing playing with a back four (of centre-backs!) as they would have given us problems with the width and pace against a back three like Bedworth did during the first half. Seeby slotted in at right back and looked like he'd never been away.

Man of the match for me was Danny Burnell whose work rate was Sonner-esque! Well done guys - an AWESOME Christmas present!!!

Simple, we dominated from start to finish even when we went down to 10 men!

The Swift red card was harsh to say the least and cannot believe the SYCOB left back was only shown a yellow card for a similar offence but we won, we're 4 points clear at the top so who cares?!?!?

Have to say, after all I've heard about SYCOB's supposed lightning attack I was surprised how they have got themselves into the top 5, I thought they were poor and we made them look average, and that would be being polite. Even when we had 10 men, we stood firm and strong, and looked like scoring again!

Bateman and Cummings nullified them by playing 4 centre backs in a back 4, we're looking good!!!

COME ON YOU REBELS!!!

During the swift sending off ..No6 ran the length of the pitch ..thrown a punch ..then retreated back ! how the hell did he not get a Red for that ! The assistant linesman should have done something about that !

Anyhow I feel we really played well and we were up for the game ! this time round we held our nerves and finnished the job off well..and deserved the 3 points for sure..

well done ...

Excellent - glad you enjoyed it!! The SYCOB keeper came in for a bit of "banter" as you put it but the comedy moment was still their number 2 picking up the ball to take the free kick that hadn't been awarded and conceding one himself for handball!!!! Hope you make it back for the Marlow game.

definitely a thoroughly deserved victory for Slough

big time impressed by the commitment and desire shown by the whole team we wanted so so much more than them. Beaconsfield i must say were massively worse than i thought they would be but it was partly that we made them look average

have to agree once down to 10 men Burnell was superb. he often doesnt get credit he deserves for his hold up play but he made their defence look silly at times

Sonner was sensational playing left wing the amount of times he won the ball was crazy

Brown also needs to take Mpi out of his backpocket now the game is over

pretty embarassing that Beaconsfield only looked to solve the fan queues at 3oclock what on earth did they think would happen with 1 guy taking gate money yet they had 3 people selling programmes and golden goal tickets or whatever

Swifty seemed to think he did little wrong or at the very least that Beaconsfield player had stamped on him. Yads defintely was loooking to attack with his head during the scuffles. didnt see what Sliski mentioned. how Yads stayed out of the refs book till near injury time i have no clue

thought it was ridiculous that their left back was allowed to chase Danny Burnell so he could kick him and comes out of it with only a yellow card right in front of the linesman.

how great though that in a 2nd vs 1st match we could restrict Beaconsfield to petty whining and hopeless long ball football even vs 10 men

well done to all the Slough players and coaching staff we got it spot on

WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!!

Superb performance from the team and a master-stroke from Steve Bateman playing Chris Seeby in a back four.

Yes, we dominated and SYCOB didn't look great but for my money we made them look ordinary with a quite sublime performance from all the players.

I think all 11 deserve MOTM but if pushed I'd pick Chris Seeby simply because it was his first full game and was simply out-standing.

COYR!!!

Thought Slough's pass and move football was too hot for Beaconsfield who looked distinctly average. I'm glad you guys have cleared up for me who exactly went off for STFC. I was on the other side of the pitch to the scuffle, saw the Becky no.6 charge forward but didn't see him throw a punch! For what it's worth, I had a great view of the Becky no.3/Burnell incident: The no.3 was obviously unhappy about something Burnell had done and did race after him like a loon but the 'kick' looked very soft and there looked to me to have been minimal contact. If anything, it looked like he just wanted to eyeball him and perhaps their legs got tangled. Feel free to disagree, it didn't matter a jot in the end and although today's match was sometimes a scrappy affair, there were plenty of clear-cut chances with Slough ultimately bossing the physical battles and deserving of the three points.

Fantastic team performance today, very hard to single out individuals for praise as everyone played their part. We contained Beaconsfield well (who I thought were disappointing today given their league position) and even with 10 men we looked the more likely to score. Did not see the controversies so cannot comment. Well deserved, 2 fantastic performances against the top teams gives us the cushion at the top of the league.

Well done to the lads, they have done us proud, a great Xmas present! Looking forward to Saturday, COYR!

Just seen the video footage.

Bit surprised there was not a lot more calls for handball (from players and supporters) when the effort from Chris Seeby was cleared off the line because it looks a stonewall hand-ball.

The penalty against SYCOB looks a bit harsh due to Sean Sonner giving the SYCOB player a little nudge in the back.

So I would say fair dos one probably evens out the other.

Fair play readingrebel I think the penalty against Beaconsfield looked very soft aswell, and your first goal was a bit lucky as it seemed to be a cross. We didn't really turn up in the first half apart from the header that just went wide before you went down the other end and scored your first goal. In the second half we picked up a bit and were unlucky after hitting the bar twice and our player taking the penalty and hitting it straight at your keeper. I think we made Slough look good today, and we really had an off day, but you got the result so fair play to you !, Bedworth are the best team we have played this season, and despite what your fans say we are third in the league on merit not luck, and there is a long way to go yet this season, C'MON YOU RAMS.
