The kick off

Okay this has been mentioned before but it really is getting boring now,not to mention inaffective.

I can see the reasons behind this but it never gives us an edge.I think it also sets out the style of play we are going to make. Long hoofed balls upfield during the next 89 mins & 59 seconds.

We never have the players up there in time to make any use of it & 9 times out 10 it just sails out of play for a throw-in to opposition, who in turn then have immediate possession.

It wouldn't be so boring, though probably still as uneffective maybe, but worth a go,to suddenly kick the ball out to opposite wing,IF indeed this HAS to continue, with one of our chaps peeling off towards the other side, hence dummying the oposition.

Whatever happened to the pass back to a midfielder to start the ball rolling.Okay in turn that might STILL be passed out to the wing but it will hopefully be a pass on the ground, something different for us, but not unlike what has been done in the past or in many other games even now.

I really am getting bored with the kick off now & I would like to see us start off by passing the ball on the ground for a change.

Every opposition must know by now how we are going to kick off. We never get an advantage whatsoever from it apart from making ground to start with. But that is soon nullified with the opposition running at us after having been gifted the ball to start with.

I'd like to see some kind of variation & to use something more exciting, more original & more advantageous.

Your views please or is everyone quite happy to see this kind of start continue, not that this post will make any difference to whoever made this decision.

It might seem to be only a minor detail within the whole game but please can we see something different for once please!

Lets start off by showing our intent by passing to feet.

Tp provide 'balace' to cookies post,we could of course do exactly the opposite-take the route one approach and shoot for goal from the kick off.

ball is tapped forward 3 foot;and there must be someone capable of hitting the ball hard and long for 50 yards.

At that point-mosr goalkeepers are'nt concentrating, and are standing around the penalty spot.

They could very well be caught out with a shot direct from kick off-especially if facing a low lying sun.

In fact-i'm sure i recall Sigere doing exactly that in a conference game at crabble-and so very nearly scored second touch from kick off.

can anybody else recall that incident/game

It must have been done-i can't be bothered to look-but i'm expect UTube would have some examples.

So unlike Cookie-i go for the opposite-shoot for goal !!

catch them cold.

And as cookie requestsa-it is something different !

Though not my ideal of a start I agree this is another option. Rather that than a long & wasted kick out to the wings. At least with a direct shot at goal there's an outside chance of scoring,as you mention MIchael.

And if we don't score then they end up with a goal kick & we gain even more ground.

I still prefer the passed ball though as it shows from the offest that we are there to pass the ball rather than just punting it upfield.

What about a ball on a piece of elastic, I once saw a clown do this, it was ever so funny, no matter how many times he kicked it, it kept coming back to his feet, and the person he was kicking it got so frustrated he left in his car. (Which incidentally made a large bang, and the doors fell of and foam squirted from the engine)

May be worth a try.

Is what your trying to say in a sarcastic/humourous way that we were shocking and clowns could've done better or have you started christmas early and the sherry is free flowing :)
